factanal results interpretation - am I right here?
Hi, I have obtained some results with factanal that seem to support a hypothesis I already had, and I'd like to verify that I can indeed conclude this from this new analysis. We had subjects reproduce perceived trajectories with a device that allowed us to measure spatial position (the path) and the device's orientation at any of those positions. From this, we calculated the rotation of

performance observation on redhat
Hi, I made an interesting observation using webservers (not just mongrel) under red hat enterprise linux ES release 4 (Nahant Update 5). Maybe this is helpful or somebody with deeper networking expertise can comment on this. Once client said that 1-2% of the response of our server were unacceptably slow (really huge 3s-21s). So I did more ab and httperf tests and notice that very few

Calling R from Java
As Jason Turner told you, one possibility is to use the communication interface SJava (for another documentation, see this article: Urbanek, S. (2002) "No need to talk to strangers - Cooperation of Interactive Software with R as Moderator", http://simon.urbanek.info/simon/yawe/research/pub.html) but it seems not so easy to use (but if you want to do sophisticated things from what I've heard you should use SJava). Here are other alternatives that are easy to implement and that you should consider depending on what you want to do: 1- one is to use R in batch mode...

Joystick axis swap order
Hi. Using Wine I found myself in a weird situation. 4-axis flightsticks have different axis order in Windows and Linux. It appears that the throttle is named axis 3 in Windows, while yaw is the one that Linux names as axis 3, giving throttle axis 4 order. So, games like Fighters Anthology that have fixed joystick use can't operate well, while games like Simcopter that support assignment work

lme help configuring random effects
Hi Everyone,  Sorry to ask what I think is a basic question but I really haven't found my answer yet in the archives.  I am trying to run a mixed effects model in R using the lme package. My experiment is such that I am interested in the effects of Temperature (2 levels) and Species (3 levels) on Growth. I collected individuals from three populations within each species. Because individuals

RESTful web service tutorial?
Hi, I would like to turn some of our simulation codes out to pasture and string some of them together by draping them in web services. I''m looking for a RESTful Camping tutorial to get started ... pointers appreciated. Some simple example applications: airfoil force calculator: feed it an airfoil geometry, an angle of attack, and a Mach number, and it returns the lift, drag, and

swifty fly?
I heard about a new mongrel plugin or version that''s single threaded and uses non-blocking IO with events. It''s called something like "swifty fly". Anyone have a link for it? Thanks.

Already outdated, but rounded ;) I literally just opened the 5yrs logo, changed the text and then done: inkscape -z -o logo/fish-10yrs.{png,svg} cp {logo,website}/fish-10yrs.svg and then updated the rest of the files. How to calculate percentage variation in a zero-inflated negative binomial regression model
I am a novice in R but using R 2.13.1 in Windows I wish to be able to calculate the percentage variation in a zero-inflated negative binomial regression model that is explained by the two predictors in my model. My response variable was no. of dung-piles per km and the predictor of excess zeros was distance to major road (km) . Thanks in advance. Boafo [[alternative HTML version
