wine sound freezes system
...I believe not, but I have this problem since I upgraded to kernel 2.4.3: I am running winamp through wine and usually within one song, the system freezes. At first I suspected my X server (not sure wether AGP is enabled or not) so I ran wine/winamp on my machine and displayed on a windows box using xwin32. I had X locally shut down. The system still crashed. Ok, I did use the 0.9.0beta4 ALSA sound drivers which could have such errors, so I tried the kernel sound driver instead (ymfpci) and still remote display. wine/winamp still caused a system freeze. The I tried a non-wine player, xmms as well as...

[fdo] Bitmap program : misbehavior
...m does not behave any longer as it should do : - after having clicked one of the drawing buttons (Point, Curve, Line, etc.) no drawing occurs inside the canvas area of the main window. This misfunction is observed when running xorg servers (Linux), and when running a Windows commercial server (XWin32) as well. I did some simple trials, but could not find out what goes wrong : - when launched on a second server (started as 'X :1 &') on a Linux workstation, bitmap WORKS PERFECTLY. - when launched on the main server (started by gdm) on a Linux workstation, bitmap DOES NOT REACT...

VServer > Wine > Xserver
I have some vserver with Debian 5 Lenny 32bit and full root rights if necessary. I use wine to start a windows application which needs to open a gui. I followed this tutorial (http://www.lizardking.biz/2009/02/debian-5-multi-user-vnc/) to run the x11, xdm as login manager and fluxbox as windowmanager. I can login over VNC and i am able to start the program without any problems. I open the in

mono fonts (was RE: RE: [R] SAS or R software)
Ah, I'm using Exceed Hummingbird 7.1 as the X server.... It does have fixed width fonts, and it is happy with variable width fonts up to this extreme .... A little more fiddling shows that this succeds with a linux based X11 server, and that even plot(1,1) par(family="mono",cex=8) text(1,1,"foo") segfaults. I've tested values of cex.
