I have an old laptop W530 I put CentOS 8 on. I was trying to install xvidtune - seems to not be available ? Thought that was part of X. Also trying to get Nouveau to be a higher resolution than 1024x768. I found the wiki, but adding video= to the kernel command line and regen grub did not do anything. ...D 1333x768 LCD TV. XP in 1024x768 show up just fine. X does not. I have set the screen preferences to 1024x768. I have edited the xorf.conf file instead of have a range from 50 - 70 I change it to be only 60. I start X and it still comes up on my A70F monitor but still will not show on my LCD TV. xvidtune does not run on this PC. It says something about "video modes are not tunable on this chip". My PC at this time is a dell SC420. Thanks for any input as to get the display working on the LCD TV under linux.

I got a kvn yesterday, and have a problem when switching from computers, where the screen is slightly shifted on one of them. Is there any way other than CTL ALT + and CTL ALT - to set and or change the resolution of the X server when I want to. Is there a way to so take me to "1920x1080" mode and then later take me to "1366x768" mode. With xvidtune I see the -next and -prev options but I was hoping for jumping to specific modes. I so realize I can also edit out unwanted modes in the xorg.conf but I'd rather not manually change items on a machine. Thanks, Jerry
