how to resize a partition of a disk define as a physical volume
Hello, I have a CentOS VM with only one disk on a Xenserver. The disk has 2 partitions: /dev/xvda1 -> /boot /dev/xvda2 -> a physical volume for LVM I added 5GB to this disk via Xencenter to extend /dev/xvda2. Usually I just have to do "pvresize /dev/xvda" to have the additional space added to the disk. But for some reason it does not work for this disk. [root ~]# pvresize /d...

clonezilla and xen problem.
...windows domains. I just tried it and it will not work. this is xen 4.1.2 and clonzilla-live 1.2.10-14 the disk line is: disk = [ ''phy:/dev/xvg0/nfdlts-c,hda,w'', ''file:/extra/isoimages/clonzilla.iso,hdc:cdrom,r'' ] It boots cd OK. The problem is devices are xvda not hda and clonzilla is not happy with that. I tried sda and it seems to have a scsi driver problem. Can I force the device to be hda? Any ideas? booting from HVM (?pv?)
.../testhvm.img,sda,w'', ''file:/opt/mageialive.iso,hdb:cdrom,r'' ] the live booted, and was able to install to disk, but it never seemed to boot after the install... (for some reason) in the end, this "worked" when we changed to: [ ''file:/opt/testhvm.img,xvda,w'', ''file:/opt/testhvm.img,sda,w'' ] apparently ''xvda'' to get grub to boot the kernel; and ''sda'' so that it could start... any idea as to why it can''t be booted with sda? is there a specific driver missing?

RFH: loopback & blktap(2) and CDROM
...e with lookback, the other one with blktap. That looks broken but neither would I expect that to work (shared disk semantics aside) 5. While experimenting with a Linux domU I noticed that the boot process sometimes gets stuck when I declare one disk as "hda" and a second one as "xvda". The 2.6.32 kernel detects a clash in /sys/block naming and I''m stuck in the "XENBUS: Waiting for devices to initialise: 295s..." count down. Is this because hda and xvda overlap because of the PVonHVM case (ide-block-major has 64 minors per device for partitions, while...

xvda vs lvm
Hi, I''m just wondering if there are any speed or stability differences between running a system directly of a LVM partition versus a xvd partition? Basicly: disk = [ ''phy:/dev/LVM/root,xvda,w'', ] vs disk= [ ''phy:LVM/root,hda1,w'',] Any tips? I tried searching the archives but I didn''t find anything. Xen 4.0 on gentoo hotplug scripts problem?
Hi, Ive just tried Xen 4.0 on Gentoo with 2.6.32 (also tried 2.6.31) forward ported dom0 kernel, Xen itself seems to boot up successfully and everything else on the system is working normally, but when I try to start a domain xm create appears to hang and eventually I get a hotplug scripts error: Error: Device 2049 (vbd) could not be connected. /etc/xen/scripts/block failed; error detected.
