what is the +hex in c++ stack traces?
What is the hex number after the method, e.g. +0x32f below?
It matches arg0 and I suspect it''s the c++ "this" pointer, aka hidden
first argument.
I would like to confirm, though.
Thanks, Joel

problem with xul/prototype experiment: "bind" method not found
Hi everyone,
I was playing around with xul + prototype, and everything seemed to be
going well until I ran into a wall - there seems to be some problem I
can''t explain with Function.prototype.bind, for instance when I run
this code:

Now remote xul manager is gone in webdeveloper.
Can anyone offer any advise on this problem?

some problems with integrating XUL into Rails
Dear Friends,
I started integrating XUL into Rails, however, I have some problems.
The first problem is that I can open local XUL files with Firefox, but
cannot open them through Rails/Webrick, Firefox says it does not recognize
what it is.
I''ve read the cookbookxul experiment and I know I have to play around with
content-type...

Write-up on RoR + XUL Sample
Hi Folks,
Just a quick message saying that, after much demand, I wrote a quick
write-up for the RoR + XUL thing I did yesterday:
http://www.zedshaw.com/blog/programming/ruby_xul.html
It lays out the few simple things I did, has a bit of rant on an
unrelated topic, and other stuff but it''s short still.
On a related note, I''d like to thank "xal" on IRC for reminding me just...

Spring-rich killer: rails rich-client proposal
Hello Doug,
I am not disputing anything you say and in fact, spring-rich is "okay"
as far as swing development goes. But rails principles adheres to those
which we hold near and dear such as "don''t repeat yourself" (note:
spring-rich model, glazed lists model, jgoodies models) and "convention
over configuration (note: xml config files). Let''s get away

Converting Rails app to desktop with XUL?
...d an Internet connection.
In the first step we are going to develop it as a plain web app
(AJAX-ified, yay!), however, in the next step we would like to port some
of the functionality (such as the editor) to a desktop app (which can be
used without Internet connectivity).
I''ve read about XUL and I was wondering if anyone has any experience of
"converting" a Rails project to the desktop using XUL, and keeping Rails
as a backend? Or maybe there''s a better tool than XUL?
Best regards and thanks for any help,
Gustav

An idea: add RYUL to Rails
Dear Friends,
I''d like to have a development suggestion for Rails.
Rails is an amazing framework, and clearly it''s weakest link is that it
relies on HTML in the end, which is not always the most appropriate GUI out
there. Another option could be XUL. Mozilla-based browsers (Firefox) can run
XUL apps right out of the box, others could use the XULRunner application.
Here you can find some wonderful demos of XUL applications:
http://www.georgenava.com/applauncher.php
What is RYUL?
Basically, it would be view, just like RHTML, but in XUL, with...

Acts_as_authenticated
Hello
I have been trying a number of security/login generators recently. My
favourite so far is the Acts_as_authenticated. I like the fact that it
is only billed as a starting point and doesn''t try to do everything.
I would like to add security roles to it, so that some of my controller
actions can only be used by an admin role. Has anybody implemented this

[PATCH] Implement window zoomin/zoomout on create/unmap
...zero point on
create/unmap. I've cleaned up the formatting/style to be consistent with
the rest of compiz (eg adding spaces around operators, tabifying, using
C style comments).
This patch could use some more work. It should only apply to decorated
toplevels, but right now it also affects XUL menus (I guess because they
are not unmanaged like in GTK?). It also affects the tab switcher
window, which looks OK but a bit _too_ distracting IMHO. And finally
sometimes visual artifacts are left on scree, though this may be simply
my video drivers (nvidia binary geforce4 mx 440).

AR db adapter for a RDF database (ATT: DHH)
Hi people,
As I stated in a earlier message, I am using Rails on my masters degree
and soon I will have to port my application from a relational database
(MySql) to a RDF semantic database called Sesame.
At first, I thought that I could get away with most of the porting only
by writing a decent database adapter, but then, examining AR closer, I
could see that it has some strong dependencies

Most of the dialogs have been rewritten from XUL to HTML5.
The dialog shown is build by opening a blank html page and
then inserting the code (html+css+js) to show the dialog.
Thus 'about:blank' (internal called as moz-safe-about:blank)
is needed to be allowed in Adblock and Noscript.
Does that fill the 'blanks' in the knowledg...

Next major version of Firefox on RHEL/CentOS ?
...e previous version.
Up until the current version of ESR (52), the major versions have been
mostly compatible, but the next release of ESR (60) has some major
changes - which include:
* No support for NPAPI plugins - except for Flash - i.e. no support for
plugins like Java etc
* No support for XUL/XPCOM/legacy add-ons - will only support
'WebExtensions'
* Requires gtk3 run-time support - which isn't available with
RHEL/CentOS 6 (currently Firefox for both el6 and el7 use the gtk2
run-time libraries)
I know it's a long shot, but I'm just trying to work out what chang...
