Problem Seeing Linux Machine From Windows Machine
I am very new to Samba, so please excuse this naive question. Samba seems to be working properly from my Red Hat 7.2 system. I am using a GUI called xSMBrowser, and am able to transfer files back and forth to the Windows machines on my network. I now want to access my Linux system from a Windows 98 machine. I can see it ('Mail') in 'My Network Places' within the workgroup called 'WORKGROUP', but I do not see any folders. I am...

About MS DFS
...compiling with support SMB file system. Samba 2.2.8a compiling with --with-msdfs In order to mount I type: mount -t smbfs -o username=name, password=***,workgroup=work //server/DfsRoot/mnt/DfsTree after cd /mnt/DfsTree In the DfsTree directory I see folders, but they are empty. The same happens to XSMBrowser program. Tell me please if Samba can mount MS DFS tree. If it doesn't, do you plan to add this feature in the future version? If it does, what I'm doing wrong? Thank you, sincerely yours, Dmitry Ponomarev, Moscow, Russia

I only have such problem only when I access FreeBSD PC, the rest computers which run Windows doesn't refuse my connection and I'm able to transfer files without any problem. Do you know wha...

Samba -> Linux copies fine, Samba -> Windows hangs all existing connections
I'm running Samba 3.0.23c on Debian-arm (unstable), kernel 2.6.18. I can copy files from the Samba server just fine, when I do it from a Linux machine. When I want to copy files from the Samba server to a Windows XP SP2 machine (connection made from Windows), it copies a couple of files, and then everything just freezes - Samba doesn't send any more packets, and I have to reconnect

...ng problem with smbclient: My Linux machine is part of a Windows workgroup (all other machines are win). I can connect to all machines with a simple smbclient -L //Hostname except for one machine where the hostname alone is not enough, and I have to type smbclient -L //Hostname -I ip-address. Using xSMBrowser in broadcast mode, I see and can access the host without any problems. Does anybody have an idea of what might be the problem ?
