mostly though, i am using wine for VST support via wineASIO. For the most part,
this method works extremely well. many of the plugins i use work
pretty much flawlessly.
the only real exception is that occasionally the VST's GUI will cause
an xrun in jackd. this hardly ever matters, as most of the time i am
not using the GUI's and am usually controlling my VSTi/VST with midi.
however, this week i have upgraded to 1.2rc-7 from 1.2rc-6. Now
several plugins that used to not cause a single xrun, are causing an
xrun when the applications fi...

be good to know in the meantime if this is a known bug, and whether there

It happened just now when I connected two other jack sources. There were
two xruns at the same time, of 0.8 and 1.8 msecs, so I'm guessing this

Flac HiRes decoding problems
Hi folks.
My first post over here.
While working on a music server optimzation (which ususally goes hand in
hand with running pretty low buffers on realtime
streams)
I figured that certain HiRez flacs were causing XRUNS/hickups on my Linux
server platform.
The interesting thing is to run into XRUNS even though the stream gets
send to a Squeezebox Touch which got
a 20s buffer on its receiving end.
However. Even a potentially short break of that flac decoding stream seems
to cause a problem further downstream....

CONFIG_PREEMPT_RT=y possible in Dom0 kernel?
HI,
Is it possible to specify CONFIG_PREEMPT_RT=y in the Dom0 kernel? It seems
that it is forbidden as it is not a menu option in make menuconfig and gets
removed if I manually add it to the .config.
I want to run a sound server on Dom0 and am having problems with xruns at
present, so need to be able to run a preemptive kernel.
Thanks,
Chris

Wine 1.2 breaking VSTs, making unusable/glitchy. these plugins have been platinum for a long time :( now are almost useless
..., when i had updated to wine1.2-rc6.
I had warned that i had seen regressions in wine. This applied to
Commercial VST instruments that i have been using in linux for about 2
years.
At first, when using Jack-audio-connection kit (after the upgrade) i
began to notice certain plugins were now causing Xruns, when they
started up.
this never used to happen. so i posted.
Now the situation is even worse. In particular, a plugin i had
mentioned before Native Instruments FM8, is now causing xruns whenever
i am switching
to a new preset - this makes it now useless!! It is a sound app and

What is a HiRez flac? How does it differ from a regular flac?

wineasio 0.7.4
Hi all,
The on-going development of wineasio continues with the release of 0.7.4. This
release is primarily aimed at fixing a couple of bugs and addressing some JACK
xrun issues.
I'm most interested in hearing from people who are having xruns with the 0.7.x
series but for whom 0.5 (or 0.6a) works.
Regards,

JACK compatible SIP/IAX client (related : Asterisk JACK application)
...hook its audio on the JACK
audio server on the client host.
I first tried to use the Asterisk JACK application, installing an
Asterisk instance on the client host, but I got mitigated results : the
host runs a RT kernel (necessary for my use of JACK) but each time a new
call is started, it triggers Xruns. Not good. Also, during the call,
there was a problem with the audio : sound was fine in one way, but I
got heavy "white" sound in the other way.
Anyway, facing all these problems, I decided to look for a standalone
softphone that would plug into a JACK server, and exchange audio with

Warning: Auto-filling the buffer (your application is buggy and/or got

These warning are displayed few times and then it stops. Then once in a
while again these warnings are printed. What exactly do these warning means
as the audio keeps on playing without any problem?...

Plain Speex, or GStreamer?
I wasn't able to find anything in the list archives, please forgive me
if this question has been asked before...
Our app needs to support multiple media types, so GStreamer would seem
to be the obvious choice. However, voice quality is paramount for
us. Are there any disadvantages to using the Speex plugin for
GStreamer as opposed to directly coding to the Speex API? In
