Problems with x2go
...ng installation, consider NoMachine <https://www.nomachine.com/>. It's free and so much better than x2go it's hard to even compare the two. It is ?free? only for noncommercial use. It isn?t open source. https://www.nomachine.com/faq If you want to try something else, take a look at xpra (http://xpra.org/). It?s in EPEL8. -- Jonathan Billings <billings at negate.org>

[Bug 2552] New: ssh -X and "ForwardX11Trusted no" break most applications, distros turn on "ForwardX11Trusted yes"
...ssh -X and "ForwardX11Trusted no", implement an X11 proxy that lies to applications/toolkits about what they are allowed to do in order to prevent them from crashing. This would probably convince the distros to return to "ForwardX11Trusted no" by default. This could perhaps use xpra if it is secure enough. Otherwise this is probably going to be a lot of work to implement and test. https://xpra.org/ -- You are receiving this mail because: You are watching the assignee of the bug.

I had to say no to one of my users who asked to install nomachine for him. We are university, i.e., not individual (aka home) users. But xpra sounds better than what I told my user to use (vncserver, vncviewer over ss...

Problems with x2go
I have installed x2goserver on a Centos8 server. Yesterday, after the installation I was able to connect by means of x2go. Today I get the following error ( /var/log/messages) /usr/bin/x2gostartagent[2677]: no free display number available, cannot start new session. Has anyone had the same problem? Thanks. Bye Stefano

Remote Desktop Recommendations
Folks I'm looking for a way to access a GUI desktop on a Centos 7 server from a Windows client. I have tried: - X2go from EPEL (fails immediately, apparently they are working on a solution, but...) - Freenx (doesn't exist for EL7) Both the above work fine with Centos 6. Are there any known working solutions? Thanks... Mystified but not urgent in San Francisco David
