Centos7.3-Mate
...os7.3 - the official name escapes me at the moment. I often install Centos7 Minimal, then X Window System, then Mate desktop. This last step gives me trouble, and I have to run # yum groupinstall mate --skip-broken output: skipped packages: NetworkManager-I2tp ldns libreswan unbound-libs xl2tpd I realise this is probably an issue for EPEL or Mate. Happy hollidays J.

Also note that l2tp is not by itself a secure vpn.. though various people seem to think it is. It needs to be combined with some other layer security usually ipsec or even another vpn solution. > _______________________________________________ > CentOS mailing list >...

CentOS Digest, Vol 116, Issue 2
Hi Alexander, Thank for replying me! I tried follow your ideas. My if-down script was not working. However i find out this issue regrading xl2tpd. In/Makefile/ of xl2tpd source code v 1.3.6 : "/-DTRUST_PPPD_TO_DIE // // ...// // # The cost of not trusting pppd to die (and shoot it down hard), is that your// // # pppd's //*ip-down scripts*//will not have a chance to run/." So i just enable /-DTRU...

Not sure why you need to skip those, they install and work on my system. One of those packages actually does have a bug right now, xl2tpd I think (required by libreswan) where it specifically requires a kmod that is provided by the...

openl2tp.org compared to openvpn
Everyone, I am needing to set up a secure channel with another office in order to pass some dicom files back and forth. The remote office is microsoft shop. I have initially looked at openvpn, but the microsoft shop has requested that we use openl2tp in that they already have this running. Since openl2tp is not part of the centos repositories, does anyone have good or bad experiences with

I want to connect to a l2tp server from centos.
Hey Gordon, I do not have any security issue in this network. I need to connect to a remote network on a secure network. The options are pptp or l2tp(no ipsec encryption) so I do want to use l2tp like in (lac\lns) and I am looking for a client for CentOS. Note that it works in ubuntu so it is possible to achieve the same with CentOS but I do not know what is behind the gui that initiates the

The client is "xl2tpd", and you can find it in EPEL. Client setup is described here: http://www.xinotes.net/notes/note/1524/

IPSEC/L2TP Local and External Internet Access at same time through two interfaces?
...before resending. So apologies if this goes out twice. I am not trying to spam. I was hoping someone could help me with L2TP/IPSEC routing issues. I have a fairly typical setup in which I have a server with eth0 (local traffic) and eth1 (external/internet traffic). I also have a VPN with OpenSwan/xl2tpd/ppp. I want users that log into the system to be able to use both eth0 and eth1. E.g. local internal sites are available, as is the internet. Thus far, my success has been either granting access to the local intranet, or the external internet, but not actually both at the same time. Could someone h...

PPTP VPN server
...t solved it lowering the MTU in the WAN interface of the VPN server. I did it, but nothing helped. I've searched bug reports on this, but there seems to be none. Any idea what can I do to fix this? or does anybody know another good VPN server for linux? (I know about openvpn and using ipsec+xl2tpd but these require additional software on the client or are not very linux-friendly). My main requiements for the VPN server are: - it should require no additional software on the windows clients (Vista and XP currently) - it should work fine with Mac OS X and linux clients - if posible, not ver...
