lld-link /ALIGN option doesn't work for the "execute in place (XIP)"
Hi Rui,
We meet a problem when enable the execute in place (XIP, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Execute_in_place) for uefi firmware with lld-link. We need to set the COFF executable file SectionAlignment through the lld-link /ALIGN option, but we find the SectionAlignment is hardcoded to 4096 which cause the /ALIGN option doesn't work at all. Below is the ha...

Two new CVEs against FLAC
...er, Michele Spagnuolo, recently found two potential
problems in the FLAC code base. They are :
CVE-2014-9028 : Heap buffer write overflow
CVE-2014-8962 : Heap buffer read overflow
For Linux distributions, the specific fixes for these two CVEs are available
from Git here:
https://git.xiph.org/?p=flac.git;a=commit;h=fcf0ba06ae12ccd7c67cee3c8d948df15f946b85

and are simple enough that they should apply cleanly to the last official
release 1.3.0 and possibly even the previous one, 1.2.1.

libvorbis 1.2.1 release?
HI all,
Was libvorbis 1.2.1 ever released? I remember a pre-release but
I don't remember seeing a real release. The Xip.org download
page still points to 1.2.0.
Cheers,
Erik

Btrfs questions
i am looking at using btrfs for a new project and i have a few questions:

...lity degrades with complexity settings. I suspect the above configuration
choice is driven by the desire to minimise complexity.
If the application is voice then the SILK codec would provide better audio
particularly below 20kbit/s.

SSD Optimizations
I''m looking to try BTRFS on a SSD, and I would like to know what SSD
optimizations it applies. Is there a comprehensive list of what ssd
mount option does? How are the blocks and metadata arranged? Are there
options available comparable to ext2/ext3 to help reduce wear and
improve performance?
Specifically, on ext2 (journal means more writes, so I don''t use ext3 on

[PATCH 00/50] ia64/xen take 3: ia64/xen domU paravirtualization
Hi. This patchset implements xen/ia64 domU support.
Qing He and Eddie Dong also has been woring on pv_ops so that
I want to discuss before going further and avoid duplicated work.
I suppose that Eddie will also post his own patch. So reviewing both
patches, we can reach to better pv_ops interface.

Rebuild of kernel 2.6.9-67.0.20.EL failure
Hello list.
I'm trying to rebuild the 2.6.9.67.0.20.EL kernel, but it fails even without
modifications.
How did I try it?
Created a (non-root) build environment (not a mock )
Installed the kernel.scr.rpm and did a
rpmbuild -ba --target=`uname -m` kernel-2.6.spec 2> prep-err.log | tee
prep-out.log
The build failed at the end:

Sharing a Samba Share?
Is it possible to share a Windows Share of a Samba Unix Share?
We have Samba running on a Solaris Box, I can map a drive to the share just fine from a Windows 2000 server.
Problem is that I want to in-turn share the Samba share from the Windows box.
Reason is ... I have customers on a remote network who are only allowed HTTP and HTTPS outbound on their firewall. And I would like to give them

Samba4 Android port and Python auth modules
Hello All,
First post. Just ported Samba4 to a native Android/ARM platform -- quite a bit more work than Samba3. Moved to Samba4 to pick up AD support.
The smb and nmb daemons fire up and appear to operate correctly, at least as good as Samba3. However, when trying to use samba-tool to create/list users, etc. I run into the following:
