Calling dovecot-lda from maildrop/shell
Hello,
I want to make final delivery for some of my mailboxes using
dovecot-lda, since I'm interested in using sieve. My usual MDA which is
called from postfix is and will be maildrop.
First try was to call dovecot-lda from command line:
/usr/lib/dovecot/dovecot-lda -d spam at xgm.de < testmail
which gave return code 75 (EX_TEMPFAIL) and logged:
dovecot: auth-worker(3533): mysql(localhost): Connected to database
system
dovecot: imap-login: Login: user=<spam at xgm.de>, method=PLAIN, rip=::1,
lip=::1, mpid=3535, secured, session=<jwXWP3HrwgAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA...

Syntax for extensions
Hello,
I need to to slightly extend the markdown syntax. (place an image (img tag)
in text which URL has not yet been determined). Therefore I want to define
something like $[Alt text](img.jpg) which would be replaced by my
pre-processor with ![Alt text](/path/to/img.jpg) and then sent to markdown.
Is there any special syntax that should be used for such 3rd party extensions?
How would you do

Gettings mails recently moved to a folder
Hello,
some spam training tools learn the same message over and over again.
Since I want to use a daily cronjob to train messages and I do not want
to have the same messages trained multiple times, I need to way to get
new messages in a folder.
Is there a (consolish) way to get a list of messages that were recently
moved to a folder? dovecot does not modify mtime, according to RFC 3501.

btrfs kernel threads producing high load and slow system down
Hello,
I habe the problems described in here
https://btrfs.wiki.kernel.org/index.php/Gotchas:
Files with a lot of random writes can become heavily fragmented
(10000+ extents) causing trashing on HDDs and excessive multi-second
spikes of CPU load on systems with an SSD or large amount a RAM.
On servers and workstations this affects databases and virtual machine images.

Maildir and home location
Hello!
My current mail setup looks like that:
MTA is postfix, MDA is maildrop. Each system user configures mail delivery using
the .mailfilter of maildrop to arbitrary maildirs in his home. For each maildir
a POP3/IMAP account can be configured, currently I use courier-imap/-pop and
think about replacing it by dovecot.
AFAIK with dovecot each account has a home and maildir assigned which

Establing a GMail like workflow
Hello!
I'm about to migrate my mails from GMail back to my self hosted
solution, using Dovecot imap server.
I really liked gmail workflow:
- (Almost) all mail goes to inbox.
- Most mail is read and not important anymore, it is archived and
moved to "all messages".
- Inbox stays more or less clean, with only mails that are still of
some interest.
- Mail (except Spam) is never

Problems with link-dest
Hello,
I want to use the link-dest feature. Changed files should not be written again
but only linked from existing location.
I execute rsync:

Whitespace in img src
Hello,
markdown (Python implementation) seems to render:
![alternativer text](pfad/und/eine lange/url zum bild.jpg)
to
<img src="pfad/und/eine" title="lange/url zum bild.jpg"
alt="alternativer text"/>
breaking the URL at the whitespace. AFAIK whitespaces are ok in URLs
so why is it breaking up the URL here?
Thanks,
Florian

Deduplication
Hello,
some questions regarding btrfs deduplication.
- What is the state of it? Is it "safe" to use?
https://btrfs.wiki.kernel.org/index.php/Deduplication does not yield
much information.
- https://pypi.python.org/pypi/bedup says: "bedup looks for new and
changed files, making sure that multiple copies of identical files
share space on disk. It integrates deeply with btrfs so
