I anm trying to enable XFS with no success. I followed the instructions provided in http://wiki.centos.org/Repositories/CentOSPlus I installed the new kernel. Example: 2.6.18-8.1.14.el5.centos.plus I also installed these packages as described in a post I found yum install --enablerepo=centosplus xfsprogs xfsprogs-devel lsmod shows nothing about XFS I would image there are others out there running XFS on Centos boxes. I have pushed some new kernels and linux-firmware packages to the xen-testing repos for both CentOS-6 and CentOS-7. The CentOS-7 packages may take a few hours to make it to the repo. The CentOS-6 repo also contains a newer xfsprogs as that is required with newer kernels (https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1314605). This kernel (and supplementary xfsprogs, linux-firmware) are scheduled to be the replacements for the 3.18.x LTS tree that has gone EOL from Kernel.org. We can maintain the 4.9 LTS tree until January 20...

Side note: yesterday, I was getting so frustrated that I ran strace xfs_quota..., and found this interesting tidbit: it was looking for some message files, libc.mo and xfsprogs.mo. And they don't exist in /usr/share/locale/en_US. libc.mo is in /usr/share/local/en_GB. And it's in most of the other languages, but not US English. Then, the xfsprogs.mo *only* exist in Polish and German support, and nowhere else. Gotta file a bug report, there. Hope this helps other...

One thing to think about is that you need to update some other packages besides kernel to use the latest kernels on CentOS. These include xfsprogs, where without the new fsck.xfs, you can not properly fix errors in an xfs file system.
