X11 on AMD64 with Xen 4.0.0 and new pvops kernel - no X11
...am currently trying out Xen 4.0.0 with Ubuntu Lucid as Dom 0 with a
pv ps kernel, and I can get it to boot and run lucid as dom0 perfectly
well in console mode, however, I am unable to start X11. Looking here
I can see there are problems with pvops kernels and X11.
http://wiki.xensource.com/xenwiki/XenPVOPSDRM . Would a summary of the
page http://wiki.xensource.com/xenwiki/XenPVOPSDRM be, that in most
circumstances its difficult to get it working?
Thanks a lot
Regards,

PFIFO_DMA_PUSHER + Xen + NV30 + questions.
Hello,
I am kernel engineer working on PV-OPS kernel trying to get it work in Dom0
with an NVidia (NV30 right now) card.
But there are issues, such as that the
pv-ops kernel has a different understanding of memory (for details check
out: http://wiki.xensource.com/xenwiki/XenPVOPSDRM).
I've fleshed out most of them (like GART had the wrong phys addresses,
ouch!), but the one that I am stumbling at is that I see the PFIFO_DMA_PUSHER,
which I am to understand means: "Oh, the GPU obj operation you stuck on the
RAMHT/RAMIN is busted."
So first of, is there a registe...

Xen + Debian Squeeze + Recent ATI Graphics Card
...nswers.)
Here's what I've gathered so far:
- the Xen kernel shipped in Squeeze will be 'PVOPS' rather than 'Xenlinux'
- On these PVOPS kernels there are/were issues with Kernel Mode Setting (KMS),
Direct Rendering Manager (DRM) etc. (see
http://wiki.xensource.com/xenwiki/XenPVOPSDRM)
- KMS, DRM, etc. are used to enable acceleration within the (radeon) graphics
card. (I believe that the radeon driver currently in Squeeze can also enable
acceleration without KMS)
What's not so clear to me is how far away DRM (and hence graphics acceleration)
support is within the PVOPS...

Screen corruption and crash at boot with Xen 4.1.0 & linux 2.6.39 on some systems
...e tried it on.
I was originally using xen 4.1.0 & linux 2.6.38.7, and with this combination the bootloader would work correctly, xen would work correctly and it would crash and the screen corrupt on the handover from xen to linux. I had a hunt around and found http://wiki.xensource.com/xenwiki/XenPVOPSDRM which talks about the graphics subsystem and says "What is boils down to is: if you want to use a stock kernel from ftp.kernel.org wait till 2.6.39 gets released". As a result I have switched to xen 4.1.0 & linux 2.6.39 but get the same result.
The motherboard is a Gigabit GA-MA69VM-...

4.2 unstable kernel restarting before booting OS kernel
Hi all-
I''m using Ubuntu 12.04 and compiled unstable on revision
25605:9950f2dc2ee6, the compilation completed cleanly and I issued
sudo make install. I modified the grub entry for Xen 4.1 as follows:
menuentry ''Ubuntu GNU/Linux, with Xen 4.2-unstable and Linux 3.2.19''
--class ubuntu --class gnu-linux --class gnu --class os --class xen {

xen-linux-system-2.6.32-5-xen-amd64: Lenovo R61, kernel boots on baremetel, no boot with xen4 hypervisor
Hello list,
I have performed a fresh install (fully updated) of
squeeze amd64 and installed the xen-linux-system-2.6.32-5-xen-amd64 package
with all its dependencies.
When I restart and tried to boot the linux-image-2.6.32-5-xen-amd64 (pvops style) kernel on bare-metal my laptop boots fine.
When I use the hyper-visor on the system with the same linux-image-2.6.32-5-xen-amd64 kernel, it hangs

[Patch RFC] nouveau accelerated on Xen pv-ops kernel
Hi,
Following is a simple patch that is needed in nouveau to get
accelerated X on a Xen dom0 pv_ops kernel. The kernel is jeremy's
2.6.31.6 as of 20100222. The whole gpu tree of nouveau (which is
almost the mainline merge), was substituted into the kernel-tree.
All components of X (mesa, Xorg-server-7.5, xf86-nouveau, libdrm) used
of the same day.

Problem: Pattern with vertical colored lines on the dom0 screen
Hi list,
I have a problem with a new laptop (reproducable on other machines too) and the
xen hypervisor.
When the hypervisor gets booted with VESA mode 800x600 I see some messages and
then the screen contents is switched into a pattern of vertical colored lines
and never comes back.
In text mode all works well, but later the pattern appears when the X servers
starts.
I disabled VTd in the bios
