WARNING: No module xenblk found for kernel
...affected domain: > rpm -q kernel kernel-xen > > > Peter > _______________________________________________ > CentOS mailing list > CentOS at centos.org > http://lists.centos.org/mailman/listinfo/centos Check your /etc/modprobe.conf and see if you have a line that specifies xenblk, such as 'alias scsi_hostadapter xenblk'. I converted a xen vm to kvm and got that error for the above reason. Bill

Xen over SuSE 10.3 - Can''t find drive to boot with...
...in my grub loader I see Xen starting and running through much of its early setup. Eventually, however, it quits on "waiting for device" - that is to say, when it needs to find its drive partition and root. I have spent several person-days on this and believe my problem is that I have no xenblk. Indeed, I note that I do not have xennet, either, on my brand new, newly setup machine. I looked everywhere for these files, re-installed far too many times, looked all over the net and have even downloaded a tar version from the Xen.org site and tried that too - still no xenblk or xennet. I...

xennet and xenblk
...I am as green as grass and trying to install Xen 3.1.0 on to a brand new machine running SuSE 10.3. I am at the point where Xen starts to boot and quits on a "Waiting for device......./dev/sda5" message. I believe that this may be related to the fact that xennet and xenblk are missing, as far as I can tell, from my machine. Mkinitrd complains that it can''t find them and I can''t either! Worse, I can''t find anything on the internet to suggest where I should get them, or where these modules come from! If someone could point me to where...

You never mentioned if this is for a dom0 or domu, if it's a domu is it a pv or hvm domain and does it use pvgrub, pygrub or does it boot directly to a kernel on the dom0? Also paste the output of this command from the affected domain: rpm -q

Amazon EC2 - building a minimal centOS ebs bootable image
Hello Looking to build CentOS based micro EC2 instance bootable from Amazon EBS. Want that the image be minimal, so that I can add only the rpms I want. Despite looking could not find a way to import a CentOS image from scratch or an existing minimal CentOS image that is bootable from EBS. My server must must persist, as I cannot handle issues with a dynamic server, so I want to use a server

Crash with XEN 4.0 on Suse 11.3
Hello, I get a VM crash while trying to load a database. The "smaller" tables are loading OK, but When I try a bigger one (#3 000 000 rows) the ASCII dump file is #766 MB. When I try to load that table the machine crash and I find always the same message in the "qemu....log'' file : xc_map_foreign_batch: mmap failed: Cannot allocate memory xc_map_foreign_bulk error 12 I

converting full to para
virt-p2v was able to convert my centOS 5.2 physical machine to xen virtual machine and it runs great. Now, I am working on to convert this full virt machine to para virt . Under my domU i have installed kernel-xen (since it is needed ) , and edited my grub menu to use the installed kernel. My grub menu file in domU looks like: ---- kernel /vmlinuz-2.6.18-92.1.17.el5xen ro

Running Debian as DomU
Hello, I just gain experiences in using XEN and hope you can help me. My hostsystem is Centos5 that I installed on a Software-Raid (Level 1). Afterwards I downloaded the debian-tarball from the jailtime.org website, extracted/mounted the image and copied the "*/lib/modules/*<kernelversion>"-folder from my host to the guest. My XEN-Configfile looks like this: kernel =

Migrating from KVM to XEN - kernel panic
First let me say that I'm not a sysadmin, but am simply wearing that hat this week so please excuse my ignorance. I need to temporarily move some virtual servers from a CentOS-KVM platform to a CentOS-XEN platform while I do some upgrades to the CentOS box. I've created a local LV, and used DD and SCP to transfer the block device from the VKM machine to the XEN machine. For quite a

I tried to compile this kernel under Fedora 8 domU, as well, but when I try to boot new kernel it alway says: no xenblk module found! According to new framework xenblk is replaced with xen-blkfront modules, then, why does he ask for that one? I understand that Fedora 8 domU uses 2.6.21.xen kernel which belong to old framework, but anyway how can I install mainline kernel on it? Please, I would really appriciate any...

Success story
hello, just for a success story : After bad experience on fedeora core 6, I have tested a OpenSuse 10.2beta2. I have installed with success a Windows XP SP2. The hardware: A intel DQ965gf Intel Core 2 Duo 6700 USB DVD reader IDE disk (PATA) Set AHCI mode in BIOS and add all-generic-ide in boot option. The opensuse 10.2beta2 does not well configured the xen kernel, you should do a mkinitrd and
