stable / unstable parallel install?
Hi,
Is there some easy way to install both 2.x and unstable xen
tools at the same machine? Seems /usr is hardcoded everythere
in the tools Makefiles, looks like there is no easy way to put
them to different paths (say, prefix /opt/xen2 and /opt/xen3)
:-/

exception looking up device number for sda1
I just tried to setup another domain on a server running 1 domain. When i
try to start the domain it gives me an error
Error: Device 0 (vif) could not be connected. Backend device not found.
The entry in my xen config file for the disks is
disk =

Looking at /var/log/xend.log, i found something strange

I replaced the full system (all hardware components except the
harddisks)
with a new one in the meantime - and still the bug is repoducible. I'll
try to describe the setup:
Two Xen virtualization servers (xen1 and xen2), mirroring one block
device with DRBD using a primary/secondary setup. The DRBD device
holds LVM with the LVs for one single virtual machine (the webserver).
This webserver runs an Apache2 daemon.
The first virtualization server (xen1, the one that's live) runs rock
stable, same for the webse...

AOE (Ata over ethernet) troubles on xen 2.0.6
...''t show up in your
/dev/etherd/ -- only on other hosts)
As this is dom0, I''m not sure why the aoe module is not seeing the
packets (unless the bridge is messing it up). Any tips for debugging
this would be appreciated -- I don''t really care if we get this working
in xen2, but I think this is important for xen3.
Thanks for your time,

Time went backwards in domU after migration
...wards: delta=-3536123661 shadow=686019823475 offset=281887188
Sometimes domU time stalls and network stops working, but other times it
gets working again.
The two hosts are using different platform timer source:
root@xen1test:~# xm dmesg|grep -i timer
(XEN) Platform timer is 14.318MHz HPET
root@xen2:~# xm dmesg|grep -i timer
(XEN) Platform timer is 1.193MHz PIT
Both hosts use Ubuntu Gutsy (latest as of today) packaged version of Xen
3.1.0, Linux 2.6.22 (on both dom0 and domU).
Dom0s are working flawlessly.
Thanks in advance,
Takeshi

so here is finally my upgrade report for my testsystem. I tried to upgrade to

release our package as it is, we would generate the following enviorment:

GRUB boot parameters: dom0_mem
I''ve installed Xen Hypervisor 3.0.3 (CentOS 5.7, i386) inside Virtualbox 4.1.16 (Mageia 1, i686) and have noticed that Dom0 is consuming 85% of the memory allocated to the VM (1GB) so I''d like to reduce this as much as possible in order to make more room for one or two VM''s.
Is there a minimum amount of vRAM that can/should be allocated to Dom0 (using the dom0_mem boot

the bug is still reproducible with the latest kernel and Xen packages
from
Debian Wheezy. Unfortunately it seems like a corner case, somehow

What is the best way to do that? I think about make eth1 nic passthrough
