Supermicro X7DVL-E and Xeon L5320 installation problems
Tearing our hair out on this one. Trying to install CentOS 5 x86_64
on a Supermicro X7DVL-E with 2 Xeon L5320 quad core CPUs, 3Ware SATA
RAID controller in a mirrored setup and 4 GB of memory. Installation
crashes at random places while copying the files. We've run
memtest86 for 24 hours without any errors, replaced the RAID
controller, motherboard and disks, but still no...

CentOS 5.5 does not recognise SAS drives with LSI 1068E Controller
I need to do a new CentOS net install on a new server having the
Supermicro X7DVL-3 motherboard:
http://www.supermicro.com/products/motherboard/xeon1333/5000V/X7DVL-3.cfm
Based on that info I assume the board having a "8x SAS Ports via LSI
1068E Controller". We received the server with 3 drives + 1 spare as
hw RAID-5 preinstalled. During bootup I see that the drive...

Xen4CentOS installation strangeness
Hi,
I have a server with Supermicro X7DVL-3 (P9) motherboard, 16G ECC RAM and
LSI SAS 1068e RAID controller. I installed CentOS 6.5 64bit on the machine
without any problems, but after following the Xen setup steps at
http://wiki.centos.org/HowTos/Xen/Xen4QuickStart
which installed me the kernel 3.10.32-11.el6.centos.alt.x86_64, I

two sticks of memory, this M/B needs 4 for interleaving.) But I don't think
these things should drop me down to the write performance of a single IDE disk.
Does anyone have any suggestions on improving write performance?

Dual Xeon 5130 (2 Ghz)

2.6.18 Kernel
Are there any plans for Redhat/CentOS to implement the 2.6.18 Kernel
which adds support for the Core 2 Duo chipsets, i.e. 965, 975, and 946?
Thanks,
-Drew

CentOS 4.3 on Intel Xeon Core 2 Duo
Dear list,
I am planning to buy a new server -because the new Core2 Duo based Xeons
(5100 series) are considerably faster in some scenarios than Opteron
machines while not beeing more expensive, I would like to hear some
real-world experiences from people who have installed CentOS 4.3 or 4.4
on such a setup.
Specifically:
CPU: 2x Intel Xeon 5100 2GHz
Board: Intel S5000 chipset
RAID5:

Intel 3000 and 5000 chipsets?
Greetings. HP claims RHEL 4 supports their servers with the Intel 3000
and 5000 chipsets. Has anyone had any trouble/success building machines
that use this?
For example, CentOS 4.4 on

Thx.

Write performance with 3ware 9550
I have two identical servers. The only difference is that the first
one has Maxtor 250G drives and the second one has Seagate 320G drives.
OS: CentOS-4.4 (fully patched)
CPU: dual Opteron 280
Memory: 16GB
Raid card: 3ware 9550Sx-8LP
Raid volume: 4-disk Raid 5 with NCQ and Write Cache enabled
On the first server I have decent performance. Nothing spectacular,
but good enough. The second one
