Centos 5.2 install problem
Hi, I'm trying a fresh install on a x86_64 (Supermicro X7dbe, 2xIntel Xeon X5450, 8 GB, 3WARE 9650SE-8LPML, 3 disks in RAID 5). The format takes quite long (2,7 TB), that seems to be normal, but then the first boot will not take place, instead the system loops. Any hints? The message follows: Regards Michael Mounting root filesystem. mount: could not find filesystem '/dev/...

RHEL6 domU migrate issues w/ higher to lower frequency CPU''s
...Xen 3.4.3. But in terms of live migration, there seems to be a problem when moving from a higher (in terms of CPU MHz) to lower (MHz) system -- even if the higher of the two is a much older CPU model. For example, I can reproduce the bug under Xen 3.4.3 with the following: * Migrating from X5450 @ 3.00GHz to X5355 @ 2.66GHz fails, but the opposite (increasing in CPU frequency) succeeds. * Migrating from Xeon(TM) CPU 2.80GHz to E5310 @ 1.60GHz fails, but the opposite (increasing in CPU frequency) succeeds. BTW, when I say "fails", what I really mean is the migration succeeds...

Strange problem updating machine
Hi Today I updated one machine with CentOS-5.4 (2.6.18-164.6.1.el5) x86_64 (Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU X5450 @ 3.00GHz) to "2.6.18-164.10.1.el5", but in some places, like /boot[1] and in the menu /boot/grub/menu.lst[2], appeared as 2.6.18-164.1.10 - the "1" and the "10" swapped. Did anybody else had similar problems? The update worked fine in i686 workstation and x86_64 x...

Hello! Please, help me, I''m totally lost choosing basic budget server for XEN. The variants are Sun (X2200 M2 or Sun X2250 M2) or maybe HP Proliant DL160 G5p. Or maybe some IBM server? Which X2200 configuration will perform better, two Opteron dual-core 22xx or single quad-core 23xx? Which one performing better nowadays, Opteron or Xeon? I know that 2-3 years ago Opteron was the
