IBM x306
Hi,
This is a little off-topic,but if someone has any info, it could help me
a LOT!,
I am building an asterisk pbx (1.0.9) on an IBM x306 SCSI machine,my
problem is that the BIOS assigns the same IRQ to the SCSI controller,
and the TDM400P, i have tried several options of making the bios change
the IRQ, but it will always move them together, anyone with some info
about my options ?
Thanks,
Marco.

IBM x306 - some progress
Hi,
I asked yesterday about a problem with x306 and IRQ sharing, didnt get
much info, now, i was playing with lspci, and see something strange,
lspci -v shows me the TDM400P card is on IRQ 7, and the SCSI card is
also on IRQ 7,
lspci -bv (from the man - b - shows "bus-centric view, as seen by the
BUS and not by the kernel) shows me the...

quad t1 / 1U rack server combos
It is amazing to me at this point that there is not an official Digium
list of supported servers (including 1u models!). Clearly the number 1
issue with the Digium PRI cards is the server that they are used in.
The new cards even go as far as listing server that DO NOT work on the
Digium site!
The wiki references are old and do not have any testing parameters.

Poor network performance - caused by inadequate vif configuration?
All,
similar to some mail threads found in this forum and some other
xen-related threads, I had problems with the network performance of my
test system:
* software base of dom0/domU: RHEL5 (Xen 3.0.3, Redhat
2.6.18-8el5xen SMP kernel)
* ibm x306 servers with 3Ghz P4 /MT support; coupled via Gigabit
Ethernet switch
* standard xen bridging network configuration
* test tool: iperf
* Xen domUs working in PV mode (the P4 does not support VT)
the data transfer rates with ''iperf'' were as follows:
* dom0/machine 1...

ISDN / Analog
...ank to split off
six of your E1 channels into analog FXO ports. You will want this for
fax lines, security systems, and dialup connections since doing this
over VoIP/Asterisk can be problematic. It is best to keep these lines
out of the PBX.
I have done several implementations on IBM x305 and x306 servers and
they work great. I cannot comment on the x100 though, since I have no
experience with it.

Hardware
Hi,
I'm looking for IBM hardware to support:
100 SIP hard phone users
10 fax machines on SIP ata's
maybe later an additional 100 sip soft phones.
Initially, all calls will be through PRI.
Some conferencing. Don't know yet if this will even get used.
Using 1.4 + ( probably business edition )
I'm looking for anyone who some experience / gotchas. I've google'd and

Still finding my feet here. I need a server which can take approx 100 sip
users accessing 24 channels through pri. Approx 20 concurrent calls. 6000
calls a month. Are there any "rules of thumb" when it comes to sizing
hardware. I've checked the wiki but nothing close to what I need plus some
of the information is really old now and may not be relevant. Also, what

Finding the UID of samba users
Hi Folks:
I am in the process of moving all of our users over to our new Samba
File server which runs FC3.
In order to properly secure the home folders, I need to chown them to
the UID of the individual user, and chgrp them to the domain users
group. I know the GID for the domain users, so no problem there. Is
there a way to find a list of the UID for all the users.
I know that I can do it

samba with NTLM *and* kerberos authentication
We have an existing samba server with many userids, using NTLM
authentication (stored in OpenLDAP). We would like to add many other
userids, which will authenticate against an existing MIT kerberos server.
Each of our customers will have either an NTLM-based userid/password, or
a kerberos-based userid/password, but never both.
We would like both kinds of userids to work with the same samba

oplocks, QuickBooks (Samba 3)
Hi there,
Can somebody please explain to me why Samba 3 requires 'oplocks = no' on
shares for programs like Quickbooks to operate properly with multiple
users, where Samba 2 didn't?
Without this option, Quickbooks will complain about file corruption when
a second user tries to open a file.
This option, however, makes the particular share that the option is
present in _very_ slow

I looked into the time of one of the calls, and saw the following:

current bind version
Hi.
I have had an enquiry from the Network and Security guy. He wants to
know why CentOS 5.5 /RHEL 5 is using a very old version of bind
"bind-chroot-9.3.6-4.P1.el5_5.3" when the latest release that has many
security fixes is on 9.7.3 . I understand that its to maintain a known
stable platform by in introducing new elements etc .. Is there an
official explanation / document that I can
