Hi all, I was at one time able to get x11vnc to start on 5900 but for some reason its listening on port 5903. Here is what the logs say; -- snippet X display :0.0 -- snippet The VNC desktop is: hostname:3 Why is the VNC desktop going to 3? I was working on 5900 previous to a reboot, unsure what changed, but something obviously has....

VNC on centOS
Hi, I have recently installed centOS 7 and trying to start vnc server on it. Somehow, I am unable to make vncserver working. I have modified iptable rules and xstartup file but it did not help. Has anyone else faced this problem earlier? Any help would be appreciated. Regards Hersh

VNC: i want see " my session"
Milton Plasencia wrote: > it connects but open a new session instead the > session where i working, >From within the session you want to connect to, you need to start x11vnc instead of vncserver. That's a separate package you'll have to install (yum install x11vnc). Note that x11vnc's display number will be the same as that of the X server it was started from, so you'll most likely have to connect your VNC client to display :0 (and not :1) in order to...

VNC on Optimus systems (is|may be) broken
Hello! I'm investigating a case where x11vnc (or RealVNC server or vino) on a _real_ X11 server seems to be broken with any VNC viewer. By broken I mean: it seems to keep old frames in memory, in such a way that in every three frames, two are from the past and one is the current one. This is easily spotted when using gnome-shell and looking...

VNC on centOS
yum -y install x11vnc x11vnc -display :0 -forever -bg firewall-cmd --add-port=5900/tcp --permanent You should look into VNC passwords, I use the above command in a shell script for each user in ~/.kde/Autostart I believe the viewer I'm using is krdc? winbind service panics "randomly"
...md This is a +/- standard debian installation, still (and this is probably useless info): lxde/lightdm instead of gnome; avahi, nfs, wicd disabled; network managers disabled; installed isc-dhcp-server, bind9, ntp, ethtool, iftop, iperf3, rsync, ifenslave, bridge-utils, pigz, htop, fortune, cowsay, x11vnc, openvpn I'm (remotely) keeping a close eye on the thing. I can only test stuff after office ours but I can monitor and will report here any findings. Again, thanks for the amazing work. VNC on Optimus systems (is|may be) broken
On an optimus system, the display is normally driven by the intel GPU. What makes you suspect nouveau is involved at all? vncserver on CentOS 7.1
I have gone through all the "new" setup for VNC server on 7.1 (goodness - that certainly is not easier than the previous way) Anyway - I have my port on 5901 and that is working. However - when I VNC into a box I get a different screen - I want to be on the same screen as the user that is on the console. how do I do that? Thanks, Jerry

Re: Xen 3.4 Configuration Issues with Ubuntu 9.04! One more time.
Reading my blog, you are missing the place above the point you complain.  That is :- ---------------------------------- BLOG ------------------------------------------------------------------ Notice , that x11vnc would work , but not under Xen Hypervisor. So, installed via Synaptic all SDL libraries and vnc4server. Updated ~.vnc/xstartup to start fluxbox in background. Updated /etc/rc.local :- vncserver :1 -geometry 1280×1024 -depth 16 Perform core build on Ubuntu Intrepid Server. # cd /usr/src # hg...

Possible bug in 3.0.2 - "Manager is watching"
...I have two VMs. VM1 is Win XP (32 bit), VM2 is RHEL4U1 (32 bits) booting to run level 3. In most case this works fine. However, if I run a vnc server in the FC4 host so I can dempo the system, then as soon as I start VM2, the host immediately crashes and reboots. I am running the stock x11vnc server. I am guessing that this is related to memory, so for the record, here is how memory is setup. Physical host has 2 Gig. Kernel /xen.gz dom0_mem=1024M Dom0-min-mem = 196 VM1 memory Memory = 512 VM2 memory Memory = 1024 When...

Re: X-Windows on... Windows
Thank you all for the advice. I had cygwin installed many years ago but that machine has gone the way of all silicon. While not terribly involved it seems overkill for the present need, which is just to run a single x-windowed application on a very occassional basis. I will look into the rest of the proposed solutions this weekend. Regards, Jim -- *** e-mail is not a secure

detachable ssh sessions / ssh terminal server
Hi folks, is there an solution for an detachable ssh (like an terminal server, but for text console) ? I imagine something like what screen(1) does, but integrated into ssh: + if an connection breaks down, the session (an all processes) remain running an can be re-attached. + all active sessions can be queried + the output of sessions can be logged and retrieved later + xterm window title
