Problem is, sometimes my upload will be limited to 50kb/s and others it''ll be
maxed. This is with wondershaper running too! (verified by ./wshaper
status).
If I stop wondershaper (./wshaper stop) my outbound bandwith does nothing (as
it''s already maxed) but if I try to start it again, nothing happens again
(yet ./wshaper status shows that wondershaper is installed). If I comment
out all the SRC ports that I want no priority for...

Wondershaper - question
Hi,
I have a question conercing wondershaper. I''m using the Clarkconnect linux
distribution for my linux router and I tried to use wondershaper.
On start up of wshaper, there are no errors or any other problems but I''m
not sure if it''s running correctly. Only one qdisc / one class is used and
when I start an uplink ftp transfer, my ping time is growing up to 1700ms -
I don''t think that there is anything shaped oder scheduled.
In the ws...

TOS settings conflict with wshaper
Hi!
Wondershaper classifies traffic to different queues using information
found in TOS field. I noticed that scp traffic goes to highest priority
class even though comments in whaper explicitely say:
"TOS Minimum Delay (ssh, NOT scp)".
As it turned out Shorewall creates mangle rules that will force minimum
delay bit to all ssh connections (in "tos" file).

Fwd: Traffic Shaping on a Transparent Bridge not working!
...g from scratch.
Tried both the cbq and htb versions without any success.
RTFM time. The htb section of http://lartc.org/howto/index.html is easier
reading than the cbq section. And the howto claims htb is better anyway.
Let''s focus on the htb version of wondershaper.
OK, First we edit wshaper.htb and configure the shell variables. Then we
run: sh -x wshaper.htb
to echo the commands as they are executed.
Then we start pinging the router at the other end of the ISDN line.
Then we start downloading a file to generate some traffic that really
needs to be shaped.
Then we run: sh -x wsha...

Bandwith thinking error
Hi,
I found that I had some thinking error with the wshaper script. I assigned
the bandwith of my DSL connection to it, but the machine where it runs is
normally connected to the LAN with 100Mbit behind a separate
Hardware-Router.Obviously, the complete connection of the machine was slowed down to 384k
because I told it so.I guess, since wshaper takes only...

Fw: wondershaper kills eth0 :(
Hi,
When i do ''wshaper start'' the interface i have defined stops routing

I''m using debian stable (3.0 woody) with debian''s default 2.4.18-686
kernel.
When I run the script I get no errors, and when I do a...

Wondershaper ACK-Filtering
Hi there!
It just occured to me that there is a difference between wshaper and
wshaper.htb. In wshaper there is no check on the ACK-bit, all small
packages are priorized.
Is that the new way to go, or is it a "bug"?
Greetings, Nils

Wondershaper
Hi !
I´ve been using the wonderful wondershaper from chapter 15.8 of the
LARTC Howto for some time. It´s really wonderful.
Actually, I use the version from
http://freshmeat.net/projects/wshaper/?topic_id=87
Now I tried to put some hosts to low priority, and it doesn´t work. The
traffic is splitted equally between the noprio and the other hosts.
Is this because I use ip masquerading, and all the traffic seems (for
the shaper) to come from one host ? The U32 filter and the other setup

imap problems
Hi,
I''m really new to traffic shaping and try to implement the wshaper.htb
script.
I have a linux box that serves as vdr, mldonkey, samba, apache and
mailserver (imap), connected to my LAN with 100mbit. I''m connected to
the inet via adsl with a hardware router/firewall, got 384k downlink 64k
uplink. When I have mldonkey running, imap (via Outlook) gets *very...

Prioritizing traffic
I don''t know whether this is the right place to ask, but kindly point me to
an FM that I can R if it isn''t.
My wife is creating lots of Kazaa traffic, and I am using rsync to create a
full mirror of Red Hat''s FTP site, Aurora Linux FTP site, the LDP site, and
some other stuff. Clearly, when one is moving well over 100GB over a 128
Kbps link, this is going to take a

tcrules ignored? wondershaper integration?
...s one out, really. I''ll provide more details later and
now let me ask you the second question:
According to
http://lists.shorewall.net/pipermail/shorewall-users/2003-August/007791.html Dario Lesca had the very same problem as I do have: I cannot see anything in the stock wondershaper-1.1a/wshaper.htb that would mimic your older manually written shaper published as the example at traffic_shaping.htm. I see what you answered to Dario and I read the wshaper.htb many many times but frankly I can''t see there anything that would be related to the tcrules MARK entries. What''s eve...

Traffic Shaping using Shorewall and WonderShaper
Hi Guys,
I''m asking this question again because I have exhausted resources
for understanding how to get it to work.
I''ve read the howto on getting traffic shaping to work (shorewall''s
web site) as well as trying out wondershaper''s htb and cbq scripts.
Somehow both does not seem to happen as I want it to.
I''ve also read through the lartc

Traffic Shaping - Help setting up upload bandwith limit
...ng coming from eth1, going to the internet, TCP
port 333, to 5kbit. (The recipients in the internet receive the data on port
333) What do I have to add to the tcrules/tcstart files?
The situation so far:
The Linux PC is connected to the Internet with eth0. I have so far copied
the contents of the wshaper.htb file (from The Wonder Shaper) to tcstart and
commented out all the standard "options" because I don''t want them, but only
my special rule here. I tried finding it out myself with the available
documentation, but couldn''t do it. Thanks in advance!

which interface to shape for ppoe?
...l mate for another isa in there, so I modified the module
options accordingly.
So, after 10 minutes of trying to figure out why the DSL device was
unwilling to talk to, well, anything - it occurred to me that the new
card was the next address up, hence the modem is *now* on eth4...
I modified the wshaper and re-ran it. Next few hours are spent wondering
why the path between the half-dead server and the replacement is at,
like, DSL speeds :-/
Today, I''ve dug deeper, and found that eth3 was *still* being shaped
(even though it''s now part of a 3-if bridge), and indeed, some bands ha...

While I am currently using the HTB version of The Wonder Shaper (I just

the Wondershaper README),
I treid this with wondershaper, using Bearing Leaf 1.0 stable
i even changed the tc command to run_tc, and tried it in both angles,
