Question of the day for SAMBA GURUS!
Hi,
I have a question that I haven't been able to answer from the docs. I
wondered if someone out there has tried to do what I would like to
attempt.
On our server, we have mapped a share called wrkgrps to drive G: Users
then have various directories under drive G: which correspond with their
department, i.e. accounts, personnel, etc. Each of these directories
has a share which I have defined in smb.conf
What I would like to do, is restrict read/write access under the main
share.. I'll try...

"Cannot save `G:\itdept\permstest\file1'. The file is marked as read
only"
What I am trying to achieve is, a "normal" user can log into his/hers NT
box and be able to edit all files in the above directory via there G
(wrkgrps) drive but they will not be unable to create or delete any
files. Obliviously if I change the directory permissions to 757 this
would solve the editing part but would allow users to create and delete
files in this area. From a unix point of things everything works ok
with the current permissions t...
