smb.conf
Hi all
My client want a shared folder so that only two people can access and
write to it.
I added the following to my smb.conf
[private]
writeble = yes
guest ok = no
path = /home/samba/private
valid users = wendy, pierre
write list = wendy, pierre
force user = nobody
All i need yo do now is make the folder "private" to nobody. How would i
go on by doing that and would this work.
Regards
Gerald

Public share ask for a password
...difference between your config and mine. Can
you explain which part of it would do the job?

set

set

set

no need for it. set by default

set by "writeble = yes"

not set. default is 0744. But don't see that this would affect my
problem.
If this was your working config than I would suggest that there is
something wrong on my client site.

patching asterisk with tzafrir patch for voicemail permission does not work
Hi,
I tried to patch asterisk 1.2.1 on a Debian Sarge distro with the patch
made by tzafrir but I still cannot set writing permission to directories.
I tried to put umask 007 inside .bash_profile but it doesn't work.
Is there anyone who can help me?
TIA

Is ACL+extended attributes exclusive with mask/mode family options?
...map DOS attributes to execute bits, or store DOS attributes in
extended attributes. Correct?
2. Apply the create mask settings
3. Apply the force create mode settings.
This looks reasonable, however I got an unexpected result from

writeble=yes
store dos attributes=yes
ea support=yes
vfs objects=acl_xattr
create mask=644
The problem is "create mask" is not honored and I get 755 for plain text
files created from windows client.
Further experiment reveals that if "vfs objects" is removed then "create

Thanks, Uwe
I have no way to test this and our IT people who do the installation
know nothing of R, so follow-up questions:
* There is no R_HOME/etc/x64/Renviron.site file, but there is a
R_HOME/etc/Rprofile.site I can modify and

Public share ask for a password
Hi,
I am using a Samba-server (2:4.2.14+dfsg-0+deb8u2) on Debian stable.
The Samba-client (samba-common ist 2:4.5.6+dfsg-1) runs on a Debian
unstable.
When I try to mount a Public share I am ask for a password. I don't
know why. There should be no need for a password. And I can log in no
matter if or which password I enter.
I can I prevent the password questions?
The is the IMO relevant
