A semi-related question: how does one get the index of a column by
name, something along the lines of col.index( X, "sue") ?

Also, I assume that lm() does not make a copy of input data? That
is, if I want "predict( LMX[ i])", I would have to retain a copy the
associated DXS subsets?

Data frame row manipulation
...row value of vx is overwritten. A2 would have 10 times as many rows as A.
I have of course discarded idea of using of a for loop, but maybe
that is what it takes.

Aggregate() questions
...gregate() examples (e.g. in
help()) elegantly produce the "right result" with nicely named
columns etc. I can't seem to make things work so smoothly.

data.frame size limit
...lumns that a data.frame can have? For
example, can I read.csv() a file that has 1000 columns and 10,000 rows,
will it break or is it limited by available memory.
