Connect CentOS 7 / GNOME to wireless WPA2/AES ?
...ompleted. There's a handful of items we still have to work out. One of them is the specific wireless connection available at his workplace. He can connect to his home network OK using the NetworkManager applet provided in the GNOME desktop. But at his workplace, it's a different setup with WPA2/AES. Has anybody on this list ever used this kind of wireless connection method, which involves installing a certificate? Or maybe you can point me to the relevant documentation? How about a client that uses PXE boot? > WiFi is pretty straightforward.? You're probably accustomed to authenticating with WPA2 Personal.? With RADIUS, you'll use WPA2 Enterprise.? Users will be asked for their RADIUS credentials when you select that? option. That seems neither useful, nor feasible for customers wanting to use the wireless network we would set up for them with their cell phones. Are cell phones even c...

Shutdown hangs on "Unmounting NFS filesystems"
...happening is that an NFS filesystem that auto-mounted over a WiFi connection cannot be unmounted because the WiFi connection is enabled only for my login and gets torn down when my UID is logged off. Any suggestions on how I can configure things to avoid this? I really don't want to expose my WPA2 key by making the connection available to all users. -- Bob Nichols "NOSPAM" is really part of my email address. Do NOT delete it.

WPA question
...it up front that I know just enough about wireless networking to know that I don't know much at all about it. That said, I'm hoping someone can help me learn a little bit... Specifically, could a laptop running Centos 5.1 be expected to (be able to) connect to a wireless access point using WPA2 security settings? I don't know if WPA depends on hardware support, or if it'll work on any ole machine. Nor do I know what is involved in making it happen. Clues would be appreciated. RADIUS
Hi, I?m trying to figure out how to practically use RADIUS to authenticate users. So far, I have only found documentation explaining that the idea is that users somehow magically need to authenticate against a RADIUS server via a device like a switch or a wireless access point before they are given or being denied access to a network. I understand that I have to refer to the documentation of

how to get ASUS USB-N13 802.11n net adapter working on 5.5?
first, the short form of the question -- has anyone got that wireless adapter working on centos 5.5 and associated with an access point that uses WPA/WPA2 security? and the details. in a classroom where there is *no* wired networking at all, all PCs have only that wireless net adapter, which works fine on windows but, after installing centos 5.5, unsurprisingly, we have no networking. there is no backup wired network, and no other adapters....

testing wireless security
I have been playing around with 3 ath based FreeBSD boxes and seem to have got everything going via WPA and a common PSK for 802.11x auth. However, I want to have a bit more certainty about things working properly. What tools do people recommend for sniffing and checking a wireless network ? In terms of IDS, is there any way to see if people are trying to bruteforce the network ? I see

madwifi on Centos 5.2, kernel 2.6.18-92.1.6.el5
Hello, I just installed Centos 5.2 on my wife's IBM thinkpad T41 with Atheros wireless. It looks like I need to install madwifi to get the wireless to work. Our home wireless network uses WPA2 I found the EL5 rpms at atrpms, but there is no madwifi-kmdl rpms for kernel 2.6.18-92.1.6.el5. So, to get the wireless working on my home network, what's the shortest path from here? Install madwifi from source (was part the way there but discovered the rpms when I looked for the wpa_supp...

NetworkManger wireless issues - "Failed to load root certificates"/"unable to get local issuer certificate"
Hi, I'm trying to connect my CentOS 6.8 laptop to the wireless net at work, which is secured with WPA2 and AES. I've done this successfully in the past using NetworkManager, but a new safety feature was recently introduced: A CA certificate is required. After this, I've not been able to connect. I have a DER format file, whose path I've entered in CA certificate: in the NetworkManag...

Recommendation for a Linux alternative to Centos - ATH9K disaster
...booting with Micro$oft Windoze 7. His super-duper new laptop arrived. Acer, AMD 4 core, fast etc. but not as nice looking as my impressive HP DV5. The wireless refused to connect. After 8 hours on Saturday I could sometimes see hubs in the neighbourhood but could not connect to my own hub using WPA2. iwlist wlan0 scan produced technical details of local hubs - but still could not connect. NetworkManager sometimes froze. Spent many hours Googling for his wifi adaptor Altheros AR928K which uses a driver known as ATH9K. Many others have had a similar problem. Kernel 2.6.27 apparently include...
