icecast proxy
...:
On my servers, i already installed icecast2 to streaming mp3 and aac file.
Now i want to make a load balancer with these icecast2.
When user request a content to a balancer, this balancer will choose the
icecast2 server which have less connections for scaling.
What i should do now?
I heard that wowza can do it. But i want to find some open source project.
Could i use red5?

_Streaming_ AAC to HTML5 player
...nks
again Karl H!
It's past time to ditch Flash!
I'm probably a bit out of date on this issue. The last time I checked,
no browser was able to directly play an AAC / MP4 / M4A stream from
Icecast. They can play AAC _files_ but not _streams_.
I see that there are now alternatives beyond Wowza and Red5.
But my question is: is anything happening with Icecast to address this?
Thanks!

Rick,
If you use Linux, can use logrotate with copytruncate to do this jobs...
Take a look to this howto is for other mediaServer but the logrotate
configuration is exactly the same we use into Icecast too..

Or if need this information into a DB, can take a look to the beta release
of our icecast log parser:

KerbNet!
I want to thank whoever mentioned KerbNet by Cygnus Solutions! Wowza!
I recommend that people check it out. It lets you implement Kerberos
under UNIX and NT, and have them work together (so you have one *unified*
security system that is used by both your NT and UNIX boxes).
It's at http://www.cygnus.com/product/kerbnet-index.html
It also does authentication *w...

jruby works as a deployment VM under windows(!)
As a note, appears from the stories of Jruby [1] that you can actually
use it as a nice stable rails deployment VM--on windows. That''s right.
It has acceptable speed on windows. Wowza.
