No fonts/characters in latest wine
With the latest Wine (0.9.12), I get no characters appearing in any graphical program under Wine. I tried installing the latest fontforge (20060413), and doing a "make clean && make depend && make", to no change. I tried deleting all installed Wine files and installing the Wine RPM from Sourceforge, with the same results. This is under SuSE 9.3.

2.2.8a mount-dir vanishes if windows-permissions are one-person only
...ist, so please apologize for any inconveniences =) I just tried out to mount a windows-share which has permissions in a domain with Active-Directory for only one specific user. all others are not permitted to read, write or do anything else. using the command mount -t smbfs -o username=john.doe //wowbagger/windows_share /mnt/shares gives me no error message, accessing the mount-dir cd /mnt/shares works ok, but now ls -la errors out with ls: shares: Permission denied also ls -la'ing /mnt does not show the shares directory anymore. Now when I change the Permissions for the windows-share...

Do I need to defile my machine, or is there a simple work-around
I am trying to install Microchip's MPLab package (a set of tools for working with PIC microcontrollers) with the latest Wine from CVS (at least, latest as of yesterday morning). I've been running Wine for a while, so I already have an existing Wine registry. I don't have a Windows install on the machine. The installer (InstallShield) unpacks, runs, and then pops up a dialog

Slow operation on multiprocessor machine
I was wondering if anybody else had seen the following: I have a multiprocessor system (Intel P4). I use Wine to run the Tasking 56300 DSP compiler (Tasking, brilliant folks they are, *had* a Linux version, that they DROPPED support for!). Doing a build of a fairly large project (over a hundred files), with nothing much else going on, the compiles run very slowly, the system is at less than

Cannot get wine working under Fedora 6 test 1
I don't know if this is a Wine error or a Fedora/SELinux error, but - I pulled down the latest wine CVS last night (28 July 2006), and installed it to /usr/bin/wine/* (e.g. the main executable is /usr/bin/wine/wine) (so that when I want to wipe all the wine binaries for a new clean install I can do so easily) I relabled the security context of all the /usr/bin/wine/* and

How do I change the resolution Wine reports to the app?
Now that all configuration has been moved into the registry, how do I tell Wine to report a different DPI to the application than X reports? The reason I am asking is that I have several Windows apps that do not correctly render text boxes - evidently the app is being told that the size a given piece of text will require is different than the size the text actually will require - as a result

Cannot run Wine under Fedora 6 test 1 - partial workaround found
...xecutable lacks the data structure that wine-preloader is looking for, but wine-pthread and wine-kthread have this. * wine-kthread won't run. * wine-pthread will. * For whatever reason, I cannot run a Windows program with "wine", but I can run it with "wine-pthread": >[wowbaggr@surfer bin]$ wine ./casio >wine_main_preload_info not found >wine_main_preload_info not found >wine: could not load L"Z:\\bin\\casio.": Invalid address >[wowbaggr@surfer bin]$ wine-pthread ./casio >libGL warning: 3D driver claims to not support visual 0x4c >wine_m...
