some horrible event, you can just restore from last night's
backup tape, so you only lose at most one day's worth of email.
When we had our .pst files on the local boxes, we had intermittent problems
with .pst file corruption when workstns would freeze while opening
Outlook, and moving them over to the Linux box has solved that
problem (no idea why, but I'm happy with the result!)
With VERY LARGE .pst files, on a slow workstation, Outlook could
take 6-7 minutes to open, moving the .pst to the Samba box has
reduced that to 30 sec...

Access to Samba server across subnets
...NT shares fine, and the login script on our
local (192.168.0.) subnet PDC runs fine when users login over the VPN;
they can ping the samba server;
but when they try to connect to the UNC address \\samba_server\sharename
the are asked for a username/password and can't get past that.
The remote workstns are Win98.
No errors are reported by testparm.
here are the relevant bits of smb.conf:

Problems on ssh and Cygwin
Hi,
I was given you name by a colleague of mine as someone who may be able
to help me with ssh and Cygwin.
I've set up Cygwin and ssh - but every time I run ssh it asks me for my
password. I want to set this up so I can use keys for the user and host
pair to stop this happening, but have had no success.
The id_dsa.pub file generated by ssh-keygen actually starts with
"ssh-dss",
