Workstaion trust account
Hi everybody! I'm having a problem adding a W2K workstaion to the domain samba+ldap. I can add it by logging with the local administartor then add to domain, but I would like to do it without doing it manually on every workstation. Have hundrads of workstations, I tried to add them by using smbldap scripts and I get an entry for the workstation but it still don't work. Is it even possible

MOH different question
Is there anyway for a sip station to play MoH out of the speaker? I know I can do it by calling the station and putting it on hold. For example: On a samsung pbx with MoH, if you goto one of the workstaions and press a button The moh plays out of the speaker. Is there any way to do this with asterisk? Problems joining existing domain W2K SP4 and Samba 2.2.8a
Hi all, I seem to be having some weird problems while trying to add a workstation to an existing domain. Samba 2.2.8a is running on FreeBSD 4.8-RELEASE-p17 and all the clients have Windows 2000 Professional with SP4 installed. This particular workstaion was part of the domain until its hard drive went under. The drive had to be replaced with a new one, the OS was installed and now when I try to

1.9.17 printing across subnets
...s the router using two ethernet cards . Workstations on both subnets share their printers from win95. Win95 machines from both sides of the subnet can telnet to both ethernet cards on the server and can also ping all machines across the two subnets. In win95 networkneighbourhood all printers (and workstaions for that matter) from BOTH subnets show up correclty. However the users can only print on the printers on "their" side of the subnet. So I have a working tcp/ip net and working netbios over tcp/ip on the two subnets BUT i do NOT have working netbios/netbeui(or whatever it takes) printing...

Problems with Samba 3.0.20b and OS X 10.4.3 Clients
...Server 3.0.20b running Debian 3.1 Sarge and clients with Mac Os X 10.4.3, after update to 10.4.3 version while the clients copy via Finder to Samba volume, after copy the files hide in directory. The others clients running Mac Os X 10.4.3, dont see the files but the Linux Workstations and Windows Workstaions dont present problems. Please some idea for the problem. Thanks. -- Andr? kvno problem when accessing "bdc" as \\domain.com
Hi! I have a samba4 domain with two r/w directory controllers. DNS is set up so that domain.com name adresses both servers for redundancy. But workstaions can't contact second server with address \\domain.com becuse the kvno is different that first servers kvno and when using \\domain.com address the kvno seems to be always first servers kvno. Can I somehow increase the second servers kvno or is there other solutions Hannu

Help wanted...
Long story short, I have a small LAN, a Red Hat 8.0 fileserver, a Win95 fileserver and 2 workstations, one Win98SE and the other is Red Hat 8.0. Using Samba as the common file system thread, I can access and play an MP3 file from the Win95 server using the RH workstation and it works fine. I can access and play an MP3 from Linux or Win95 server using the Windows workstation and that works

Cannot get DOMAIN ADMINS to work

But it does not work. When i try to partition disks on a workstation, i get a message saying that i do not have the nessecary rights. Questions: - Did i miss something obvious? - How can i debug on server/client side ? Thanks for any help. PS: winbindd is not running. Do...

Win2k bringing down SMB
...re the SMB goes down for everything but the 2K machine. The fix seems to be powering off the 2K machine, killing [sn]mbd, rebooting all workstations, then starting [sn]mbd. It's like they've been brainwashed and have to totally have their memory of the 2K machine wiped out. A few of the NT workstaions *STILL* cant see anything but themselves in network neighborhood, after many reboots/samba restarts. Even tryed adding them to a differant workgroup, then moving back to AXISTANGENT. They ping fine, and can cruise the web, etc... So, heads up all. =) Win2K is hazardous to your LANs health. -- Jer...

Re: Linux only Network: Samba ?? or Nis and NFs??
Hi, I'm trying to build an only Linux (RedHat 8.0) network. I've tried NIS(for centralised passwords) and NFS, seems to work OK. Sometimes my clients stop responding. I may be doing something wrong. I've just been told that all of this can be done with Samba. CEntralised User naes and passwords and homes. So that any user can logon from any linux workstation be validated by a server

PC loosing domain membership frequently
Hi, I'm new to this list. I tried to google and did a _bit_ of searching in teh archive but didn't find anything related to my problem. I use samba 2.2.8a as the PDC on SuSE-linux 8.0. I administrate 7 Rooms with 160 PC, mainly w2k-sp3 and some older with NT4-sp6. In two of seven rooms some PC loose their Domain-membership. I can bring them back into Domain, but they seem to loose it after

SAMBA + LDAP: can login to domain
Hello, I've tried to integrate samba 3.0.1 and LDAP 2.1.23 using the guide provided from http://www.hilinski.net/samba/. While the ldap+samba user authentication seems to work fine, I can't join the Domain from a Windows 2000 Client. The Domain is found and Name/Password Credentials are asked. I enter root and password and I get an error: Login Failure: Unknow username or bad

Domain Trust Logins
Config: Samba 3 trusts a win2003 domain. XP workstations joined to Samba PDC domain. When a user in the 2003 domain tries to login using an XP workstation and choosing the 2003 domain in the "log onto" box this fails unless the user also has a Linux user account. Is there a way around this? Is this just the way it works? Thanks Lee Baker

Suse Linux Enterprise 10 and Samba PDC
...e read that you can add groups to the domain, but so far, everything I have read and tried to do this has failed. I would like to add some domain groups (ie "Domain Users", Domain Admins") so I can just place users in and out of those groups without having to do a lot of work on the workstaions every time some one comes or goes. I tried to use the smbldap-tools to create the groups, but I have never gotten it to work properly. I am always getting strange messages from these scripts, and searches for the errors didn't produce any usefull information. Is there a way (or pluging for y...
