New to Puppet, trying to get it workign with a FreeBSD agent
Hello,
I have been following through some of the documentation trying to make use
of puppet in a test environment. I went ahead and tried to install
puppet-passenger and puppet dashboard.
I think i have succesfully done this, because at mymaster.local:3000/ I get
the dashboard webpage (albeit with no nodes or anything reporting)
and at https://mymaster.local:8140 I get a cert trying to be

Multiple location DC's with same hostnames
...naming conflict. The end result would be to have clients at each site resolve the fs01 name to the local site while retaining the credential synchronization across the two locations. We were initially using the BIND9_DLZ dns backend however we were having difficulties in getting the dynamic updates workign from windows clients. Is the above senario possible to accomplish with a SAMBA_INTERNAL dns backend? If so could you point me in the correct direction.
As a workaround we have renamed the DCs and added static entries in the hosts files and pushing out the DNS suffixes to windows client machines f...

Samba internal DNS + 2nd DNS
I'm workign to setup Samba4 and my current centos server deployment uses
TinyDNS/DNSCache for the DNS. Understanding that it is best to use Sambas
internal DNS for AD, I'm wondering how others are doing DNS? I really
don't want to use BIND.
Should my DHCP server send ddns updates to Samba's inte...

Question on gems on Mac OSX
Hi all,
lately I''ve been working with ROR on a MAC OSX tiger at work, however I
have one huge problem with seems to be the root of all my problems
whenever I use terminal or iTerm to start workign with ROR. Every
single time I open a new terminal window or close one and open a new
one, I have to reapply my path from .bash_login for Ruby and MySql, and
than I have to install the gems for MySql as well as Rails again every
single time I open or close a Terminal window. Is there anyway t...

samba-3.0.22 -> samba-3.0.23 pam_winbind issue(s)
Previously had samba-3.0.22 on RedHat Enterprise 4 functioning happily,
using pam_winbind to authenticate against our campus active directory
(currently only doing password authentication, account info is still
retrieved via NIS).
/etc/pam.d/system-auth attached
After upgrading to 3.0.23
* I needed to add idmap options (I used idmap backend = rid), else winbind
would only start in "netlogon

Wine question - sort of... program that ran now crashes
...ilt from
source code and not from portage.
QUESTION: Why should anything emerged in the last few weeks effect a
set of programs that are already built and running?
I'm not a programmer and do not understand anything about what Wine
uses or how an update could disturb things that are built and workign
correctly.
In trying to fix things I have now rebuilt everything I know about
above, plus a few more things, but I continue to get the same error
message. I've also tried Wine-20040914 as of last evening and get the
same error message.
What can I do to figure out what changed and get back to...

Writing a mod_put HttpHandler
I''m looking at writing a Mongrel handler that mimics the behavior of
the Apache mod_put [1]. It allows for the streaming upload of very
large (GB) files; it also supports resumable upload.
Before I get too involved, I''d like to ask if my reading of the
mongrel source code is correct, i.e. what I want to do isn''t
currently possible.
Looking at the class

Getting a time select input
I''m having trouble workign out which ActionView DateHelpers to display a
time input for an ActiveRecord field of type :time.
I just want an hours input and a minuites input. I can get these with

and miniutes the same name.

server is extremly slugish - unable to troubleshoot..
...;s never above 30 %
RAM: swap is never used, there's always around 1.5 GB of free memory
so it's not a matter of CPU nor RAM.
so my next thought were that HDD is maxing out on the hosting physical server.
i checked on the physical server, and HDD I/O is within normal range. and other VMs workign on the same physical server are running smoothly..
so what can i do more to troubleshoot?
this is happening more than it should without any scenario in common.
any advice on how to troubleshoot would be greatly appreciated...
PS: any command that may show I/O in KB/MB on the HDD ?...

MASQed subnets...

firewall machine to be able to share on both sides. I'd also like to
create a domain for all of the machines on the inside of the firewall.
I've had many different smbclient like programs perform with totaly
different results. I have a workgroup workign right now with most of what
I want working. browsing the outside is the biggest problem still. File
sharing seems to be working... printing is a mess... I can print to
it... it seems to work and then the job just up and vaporizes...

Problems with mapping drives
I submitted a request 2 days ago about having problems mapping one share out of
70. I have found the fix, but I would like to have an answer as to why the
problem
occurred.
History:
We have about 70 shares mapped with Samba, using winbindd for
authentication.
We had about 10 users that could not map their shares. They would get an error
of:
could not chdir to the appropriate directory on the

Skydome not working
Hi all,
I've searched all over to the answer for this but no luck. In short, skydome doesn't seem to be working, I only have a black background. Skydome is pointing at the following:

plaza.png: PNG image data, 2048 x 1024, 8-bit/color RGB, non-interlaced

Quota not showing properly in webmail
...user with 100MB of quota and send him 50MB of
mail, squirrelmail and roundcubemail display 50MB of 100GB
If I create another user with 20MB quota and send him 10MB of mail,
squirrelmail and roundcube dipslay 10MB of 20GB. if I send 50MB more I get
the quota error msg I should get. So everything is workign but its
displaying incorrectly. At first I though it was squirrelmail`s fault but it
happens with roundcube as well, since both get their quota info from the
imap server than I think its dovecot.
I`m using Debian 4.0
This is the output of the --version and the -n dovecot commands.

login_get_lastlog - nss enviornment - works in shell env, doesn't work when sshd calls it.
...one ;-)
I've extracted some fucntions from loginrec.c and at the bottom of the mail is the src.
The main idea is that I got the 'login_get_lastlog' function in a separate executable
so I can see if it's working ok and if not I can gdb it.
The interesting thing is that this app is workign just fine!
The only app where the getpwuid is not wokring is sshd and I can't understand why...
maybe it's in the nss implementation but please
gime me ANY ideas!!
Thanks and any help will be useful!
BTW, I'm _not_ subscribed to this list because I'm not C dev.
