Can't mount samba shares
Honestly, it's enough to make you scream. :-( I can't seem to mount a samba share: $ mount -t smbfs //workhorse/OldHome /network -o username=DACRIB+turgon, password=xxxxxx mount error(13): Permission denied Refer to the mount.cifs(8) manual page (e.g. man mount.cifs) (I'm logging into this laptop as the domain user DACRIB+turgon, domain = DACRIB. That part works perfectly.) I have the share name right...

smbclient -k works; mount -t cifs does not
I am confused (nothing new there ...). I have 2 Ubuntu 9.10 Samba servers. I am trying to mount a share from the other (i.e., "workhorse" is trying to mount a share on "dual-booter"). If I specify a smbmount command with a -k option, I can mount the share: turgon at workhorse:~$ klist Ticket cache: FILE:/tmp/krb5cc_1000 Default principal: turgon at DACRIB.LOCAL Valid starting Expires Service principal...

Problems logging in when authenticating against Active Directory
Greetings! I am having a bit of an issue using Ubuntu 9.10 and AD 2003. AD domain = dacrib.local AD server = dim-2300.dacrib.local IP = 10.0.0.60 Samba server = workhorse.dacrib.local IP = 10.0.0.20 I joined the server to AD, and I can see all the domain users and groups when I do a "getent passwd" and "getent group". "wbinfo -u" lists all domain users, and "wbinfo -g" gives me all domain groups. AD shows the server as a m...

AD domain = dacrib.local AD server = dim-2300.dacrib.local IP = 10.0.0.60 Samba server = workhorse.dacrib.local IP = 10.0.0.20 I have been following <https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Samba/Kerberos>, and my Kerberos seems set up properly, as I can get a ticket. root at workhorse:/etc/samba# klist Ticket cache: FILE:/tmp/krb5cc_0 Default principal: administrator at DACRIB.LOCAL Valid...

Still can't mount Samba shares from other Samba server
...erver, using a Ubuntu 10.04 laptop. I totally re-formatted both my desktop and my laptop with Ubuntu 10.04 (so that they would be using the same version of Samba). I am using the exact same smb.conf for the 2 machines (less the share definitions, which exist only on the desktop, known as "workhorse"). wbinfo -u, wbinfo -g, wbinfo -t, wbinfo -a domainuser- these all work. getent passwd and getent group both work, and both return the exact same info, on both machines: DACRIB+administrator:*:10002:10000:Administrator:/home/DACRIB/Administrator:/bin/sh DACRIB+krbtgt:*:10006:10000:krbtgt:/...

Problems using multiple Samba servers in a Win2003 AD domain
...various pages on how to do this, half of which conflict with each other, or are outdated, none of which work. I am using virtually the same smb.conf on both machines. Domain name = DCRIB.LOCAL (short name DACRIB) Win2003 DC = dim-win2300.dacrib.local 2 Ubuntu 9.10 members (Samba 3.4.0) Desktop = workhorse (with various shares) Laptop = Dual-Booter (which will access the shares on workhorse and elsewhere) So, can anyone point out what's wrong with these configs? Dual-Booter can see the shares on workhorse, and workhorse can see the share on Dual-Booter. Each can (and is) mounting shares from a W...

means comparison in R (post-hoc test)
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hi. I have been using SAS for some time, and now I have discovered R. I am very happy with it, but I have not found out how to perform some of the multiple comparisons I was used to do in SAS. With the SAS/STAT, I generally used the MEANS (for comparison of arithmetic means) and the LSMEANS (for adjusted means) statements of the GLM procedure (I

CentOS 7 on dual-monitor workstation?
...on my laptop. The PC has an NVidia GeForce GT 520 video card with two 19'' monitors attached to it. I'm using the proprietary 'nvidia' driver. I vaguely remember having read somewhere that RHEL/CentOS 7 with GNOME 3 had trouble with dual monitors. Now since this is my main workhorse PC, I thought I'd rather ask before migrating, just to be on the safe side. Anybody on this list running CentOS 7 on a similar hardware configuration? If I remember correctly from the time spent with CentOS 5.x, the proprietary 'nvidia' drivers are best configured using the third-pa...

Roundcube does not show emails
...hen I login to an account, no emails are showing. The inbox shows up empty, even if it's not. Another malfunction is that I cannot edit any identity. When I click on the user's identity, I get a spinning wheel, and the page does not open. I already have Roundcube 1.4rc1 running on my main workhorse server, it runs nicely. I tried to figure out what I did differently on that machine, but couldn't figure it out so far. I took a peek in the various log files, but found nothing suspect. Or maybe I don't know what to look for. Any suggestions? I'm a bit clueless here and don't ev...

download.file error
...f() statment. The original fault came from the function get.hist.quote() in the "tseries" package. I was trying to iterate over various stocks, but some stocks listed in the yahoo website do not have any downloadable data associated with them, which causes the loop to terminate. The "workhorse" function of get.hist.quote() is the download.file() function. Supermicro CentOS 7 install failure
My workhorse server is a SuperMicro with their H8DM8-2 motherboard. For many years it ran CentOS 5.x and 6.x until the boot drive failed last year. I installed a 1TB SSD as /dev/sda and planned to install CentOS 7 on it, replacing CentOS 6.5 on the failed drive. Unfortunately every CentOS 7 media I tried, eithe...

Using ntlm_auth to get NTLMv2 Session support from an application
Hello: As many of you already probably know, the neon library is the workhorse for davfs support. However, right now, the current version of libneon has very limited support for NTLM, particularly NTLMv2, both on the challenge/authentication side as well as handling NTLMv2 Session Security. There is a patch somewhere to add NTLMv2 authentication support natively but there i...
