Dear sir, We are using Rethat linnex 9 with which we got samba 2.2.7a. we are able to connect windows 98 and win xp machines, but the problem is we are not able to connect win 3.11 machines is there any add-on package for connecting win 3.11 clients ( windows workgrops ) with regards Jayaram Prasad, Sr.Dy.Systems Engineer. ...t that address. and i though it was the second case, because although the network was up and one could contact the service host, the NMDB reports that the domain name was truncated. here are some details of my domain and DNS config: domain: lan.computacion.itcr.ac.cr (it is specified under in the workgrop directive) that domain exists in the DNS and queries to it works fine. there is a SRV _ldap.tc_xxmscs (something like that) record added to the DNS pointing to the name of the samba pdc hostname, also added in DNS. when running nmbd, it says that "lan.computacion.itcr.ac.cr" domain was...

...ess is right but I still only telnet form WFW 3.11 to Linux...not the reverse. On Linux telnet is working. I've checked it through this cmdline "telnet localhost 23 or telnet 127.0.0.1" . And I also testparm smb.conf and nothing wrong happen.
