Domain-name appended into username when "selecting users or groups"
Dear all,
I am facing a peculiar situation:
on my smb.conf log level = 5, and on my windows machine I log on as a
local administrator to add remote desktop users that are in fact domain
users.
When my worgroup = SOMETHING, everything works fine. When I change my
worgroup to: workgroup = example.com, and try to add a new remote
desktop user, and set as an object name example.com\user and try to
"check name", after a give the username and password I get the following
error:

Multiple Samba's on same machine
...ting through docs/lists/Google but no joy. I am sure I saw something about running multiple Samba's on different ports but I want to use different interfaces all on port 139.
So: Can I run multiple s/nmbd's on the same machine?
I have nine main VLANs and somewher in the region of 30 odd worgroups (don't ask !) of which 10 are of interest. 3,500 odd PCs. I have a Linux box with all nine VLANs on it and I can easily add more IP addresses per VLAN using aliasing. It has 18 addresses at the moment.
The idea was to make this thing a browse master for all VLANs/workgroups. This should ea...

NT4-Samba Migration Test Results
John,
We previously corresponded on our testing of Samba 3.0.0 RC4. Since
then,
we have downloaded the Samba 3.0.0 Release version for testing with some
interesting results.
The Setup
Major Networks: Solaris (NIS), Windows Native NT4 Domain
Our Test Plan
We are testing Samba 3.0 as a candidate for replacing the old NT4
Domain.
Being a complex production networking environment, we replicated

Hi,
I'm tried using foreign characters in the worgroup names, but I experienced browsing problems.
Look at the following lines from log.nmbd:

Break all network conneticons before joining the domain. Try what
happens if you change form worgroup dummy to domain production
instead form workgroup production to domain production
