Wine success: HABit Wordstar Converter (version 3)
I had need of a bit of computer archeology (oddly enough, for a couple
of archaeologists, but that's another story). I used Henry Bartlett'
HABit Wordstar Converter (version 3)
(http://www.hotkey.net.au/~hambar/habit/wsconvrm.htm) to convert some
Wordstar for Mess-DOS files to text and HTML. It worked just fine
under wine (http://www.winehq.org). wine-20041201-1fc3winehq on Fedora
Core 3 Linux.
Thanks to both the wine contributors and Mr. Bartlett....

Printing, Control Panel & Win3x app
Hi,
I've been using a legacy Windows 3x application, WordStar for
Windows, with Wine for a long time. I recently installed a beta
release of Wine compiled for Mandriva Linux (2006.0) - 0.9.22,
and a number of problems have occurred with the program.
The most critical problem is that WordStar for Windows won't print
(it printed from the alpha Wines)....

Re: SYSLINUX Digest, Vol 33, menu.c32 chaining
Hello,
many of our platforms do not have a integrated floppy, some even don''t have a floppy controller. As pxelinux still has a problem with machines without a floppy in combination with some bios versions I need to chainload a different bootstrap loader which works on the floppyless platforms. But I also need to load a BartPE and the other BS loader does not support that. So I tried to

Best R text editors?
Quick informal poll: what is everyone's favorite text editor for working
with R? I'd like to hear from people who are using editors that have
some level of direct R interface (e.g. Tinn-R, Komodo+SciViews). Thanks!

replacing joe
Morning everybody,
I am still using good old joe editor on my CentOS machines although it
is no longer included in the CentOS repositories.
Is there any comparable "wordstar" compatible editor that is part
of the standard distribution?
And no, I don't want to use Emacs. :-)
best regards

Can I use Wine to Run the Scan Function of a HP Officejet 4215?
Hello,
I have been trying to use the scan function of my HP Officejet 4215
by invoking sane. And that is not working. As an alternative, I hope I
could run Wine as Windows XP and read in the HP cd that came with my
printer to setup the printer and the scan function. Right now the
printer works. It prints, copies, scans (using HP Director) and faxes
and scan under Windows XP. Under

Wine in kubuntu-9.04
I cannot get wine to run in kubuntu-9.04, on an x-64 machine. This is with the standard video drivers, nothing extra added. I have tried both the wine version in the repository, and the beta version from budgetdirect(?). Winecfg does run in the repository version, not in the beta version. It does run in the 32-bit version of kubuntu-9.04, on a 32 bit machine.
Basically, it won't run anything at

Recommendation for HTML editor
I was playing around with Nvu, and discovered it has serious problems.
Mainly that it reformats one's code regardless of whether or not one
selects the "Don't reformat code" option.
I know there are a few HTML editors out there, so I'm not asking if they
exist. What I'm wondering if there are those on this list who may have a
recommendation for one they like and why.
