Neither in the wordpad that comes with wine nor in the original one I get these bullets (similiar to enumeration).
Anyone any idea why?

More on the archive bit saga
...lped so far.
I now have a test server running on Ubuntu 6.06 and Samba 3.0.22. I also
configured ACL and user_xattr on the filesystem running the shares. But
now I have very strange behavior that I hope someone has a clue about.
User smith can open two files (foo.txt and faa.txt) with Notepad,
Wordpad and Microsoft Word. The behavior for all three is different:
foo.txt
Notepad: Can open and modify the file. Correctly sets the archive bit.
Wordpad before Word mod: Can open and modify the file. Correctly sets
the archive bit.
Wordpad after Word mod: Can open but cannot modify the file (access...

Re: [virt-tools-list] Paths with whitespace in guestfish
...Users/Owner/My Documents"
> libguestfs: error: ls0: opendir: /Users/Owner/My Documents: No such

This syntax (single or double quoting) is the correct one and works
fine for me:
><fs> ls "/Program Files/Windows NT/Accessories"
mswrd6.wpc
mswrd8.wpc
wordpad.exe
write.wpc
I'm guessing it may be a case sensitivity problem. You could try
prepending 'win:...' (a guestfish-specific hack for Windows) in front
of the path, as described in the manual:
http://libguestfs.org/guestfish.1.html#windows-paths
For example:
><fs> ls "/p...

strange problem foxpro run exe on win 10
hi,
one of my customers still use old foxpro
we migrate from samba 3.6.3 to samba 4.1.17
and everything seems to be alright
foxpro is using command "run" to starts external program and when I star
for example Wordpad by "run wordpad" I get Access denied
but when I directly run worpad, then everything runs ok
And this behavior appears only on Win7 - Win10 and not on WinXp
I set linux rights to 7777 to be sure, and i can write to folder.
Where should i start looking for problem (logs ...)?

Maybe that's because the M$ "solutions" are crap, and much better
alternatives already exist.

unexpected behavior when "modified outside"
....0.0) on a debian GNU/Linux computer to mount a
Windows 98 folder. I edit C++ files from the Linux computer and compile
them on the Windows computer with VC++ 6.0.
What I don't understand is the different behavior between when a file is
edited with an external editor on windows (let's say wordpad) and when
edited with an external editor via Samba (let's say with vim).
When edited with wordpad, VC++ notices the change and rebuild whatever
is needed based on the dependencies. When edited via samba, VC++ miss
the change.
What's strange is that if I let the file open in VC++ while editi...

large dataset - confused
I'm trying to load a dataset into R, but I'm completely lost. This is
probably due mostly to the fact that I'm a complete R newb, but it's got me
stuck in a research project.
I've tried just opening the text file in WordPad and copying the data
directly into R, but it's too big and causes the program to crash.
Any suggestions or assistance? I'm kinda desperate and lost.

Apps under wine
Hi all,
I've got notepad.exe to work under wine (i think it's built in).
I'm trying to get wordpad.exe to work now. It's currently in
~/driveC/Program Files/Accessories.
Wine says it can't find wordpad.exe. Do i need to add an explicit
path for it in wine config, or should the windows registry supply
the path?
Is it any use copying the original windows registry to wine?
I've copie...

samba on mipsel board
...a mac OSX machine.
But, I can not modify files from an XP machine. I could successfully
mount the shares, but if I open, say a text file from the XP in notepad
and try to modify it, it generates an error "not enough storage is
available to process this command". And if I open it with Wordpad, it
would not even open, the error is "An Unexpected error occured while
reading \\Blackboxone\public\dummy.txt".
Could anybody please help me to resolve the issue.
Many thanks,
mahmood.

Incorrect format of Text
Hi,
I am running Samba 2.2.8a on Solaris 8, and have shared out a directory
containing some simple text files.
The issue I am experiencing is the following:
If the files are FTP'd from the Unix box to a Windows machine and opened
using Notepad, the formatting is correct. If the same files are either
opened directly or copied (from the Samba share) from the Unix box to the
Windows machine,

Hello,
Thanks for your responses. I have attached a file containing the responses

Word/Wordpad to open it). The OS is Linux Mint 19.1.

Quota / OpLock file truncation again
...ou won't have
the NULL data past the quota limit, the file will just be truncated at
the quota limit. But notepad will not give an error on save, leaving
the user ignorant of the file truncation, and data loss. This sounds
just like what was described in the second discussion from above.
Wordpad and other applications don't exhibit the same behavior.
So I see three possibilities. There is a workaround (like setting
"strict allocate") that I am not aware of. Or Samba has regressed and
this old bug came back. Or the bug was only fixed for other apps like
Wordpad, but it...

...drive.
In drive properties I see, avail only 1.5K free disk space
However, I can open existed BMP image (10K size) with MS Paint, resize
image and save. Paint alert me disk is full.
Now my BMP image size is 54K, and corrupted.
Why 54K if only 1.5K avail?
Above example with MS Paint.
If I use MS Wordpad in same scenario (Save more data than avail) Wordpad
alert me in half of the cases.
This problem is very important for me.
I thinking, this problem with Paint and Wordpad and have been do some
alternative test.
I create virtual disk on local XP machine, and try same scenario, Paint

FLAC: encoder batch file
Hi,
I'm using windows and I wanted to make a batch file for encoding of wav
files to flac.
It encodes all wav files in a directory to flac and write all flac output to
a file, after that it opens that file in wordpad.
Here is the batch file:
@ECHO OFF
FOR %1 IN (*.wav) DO flac -V --best "%1" 2<< FLAC_output.txt
START /MAX wordpad FLAC_output.txt
EXIT
The problem now is: the line 'FOR %1 IN (*.wav) DO flac -V --best "%1" 2<<
FLAC_output.txt' works perfectly when entered...
