Woohoo! Windows Server 2008 RC2 on Xen 4.0
Surely you hear plenty about what''s not working, so I thought I''d shoot a quick message on something that did work. I got Windows Server 2008 RC2 installed. I have yet to even activate it and prove all internal features/devices work, but installation alone satisfied me! I had to fight a couple issues and I''ll mention them here, i think they''d be pretty

New Webmin 1.060 comes with Shorewall module
I just updated my webmin on my server and noticed that the module for Shorewall looked different. It looks like someone really cleaned it up and had it added to the Standard Webmin Module list. Woohoo. -- Joe *** I can only please one person a day. Today is not your day and tomorrow doesn''t look good either. ***

[success] VB3 Program "Watchtower Library" now works
...t the program itself was bailing out and not wine. But I had no idea how to remedy the problem. The tooltips (in the program called "Toolhelp") entered an infinite loop. Since Wine-20011018 the search function works flawlessly and today I tried the toolhelp again with today's cvs and: Woohoo! IT WORKS. The program is now in a usable state. Thank you to all Wine developers and to all who contributed patches. Should this prog entered into the Wine database of usable progs? I think: Yes. Searches limited to 10 results?
Hello all, I''ve just recently gotten my ActiveRecord models indexed properly in my Rails App. Woohoo! So I''ve started testing some searches. Is there some limit to acts_as_ferret that only allows it to return 10 results? I''m searching for common terms in my data that I _know_ return many results, but I only ever get at most 10 results. This is in a db with 350k rows: >&gt...

wierdness with mailboxes
...t I avoid it for any new servers. Courier-imap only supports maildirs but has some wierdnesses that I've come to live with. dovecot promises to be exactly what I'm looking for with just the right footprint and feature-set. =) I was surprised when I tried creating subfolders of mbox's. woohoo! The only problem is that dovecot manages to rename the parent, appending a '.'. So when we have: folder we now have: folder. folder.subfolder Evolution freaks out and thinks it can't store folders in 'folder.' and ends up with two subfolders: null and subfolder, which can c...

Minimal AD DC server for dev/test setup
...DAP". I have implemented, debugged, maintained and supported LDAP authentication plugins for web-based software (most notably Moodle), for some years. Developed and tested against OpenLDAP, then debugged it a bit against actual AD servers because the Samba DC didn't exist. Now it exists! Woohoo! "What's the simplest Samba DC I could reasonably use? to dev/test against? All I want is to throw a dozen users and three groups in there". For example, I would love a simple enough setup that I can run in a throwaway VM/container for unit+e2e tests in integration. cheers, m --...

outgoing ZAP cannot connect using E1 isdn
...will be embarrassed. However, I have spent all evening on this with no success: I have the following setup (asterisk cvshead as of today) 10 Channel EuroISDN<=>Asterisk<=>Meridian What I can do: Call from outside into the asterisk, dial an extension, and pass through to the meridian. WooHoo. What I can't do: Call from outside (firstnum) into the asterisk , dial an extension which calls an outside number (SecondNum). I get the BT three-tone (number has not been recognised). Is it that the outgoing number is being mangled ? If so, where to look ? I have tried *everything* that I c...

[LLVMdev] clang builds on Sparc/Linux!
...a Core 3). GCC version 3.4.2. I built llvm-2.0 (the svn version) by just typing "./configure;make". I then downloaded clang from the svn repository (revision 40382) and changed to it's directory under .../llvm/tools/clang. I did a "make" without incident for clang, as well. Woohoo. I tried a few examples and everything seemed to work fine, as far as llvm, some simple clang functionality and the JIT examples go. Then I ran this contrived example through clang and llvm: int x; int func1 (int g) { return g; } int main() { printf("Hello World %d times\n", func1...

blktap, vmdk, vdi, and disk management support
Just a quick fyi... We''ve recently added support for blktap along with support for managing virtual disks (disk file images). There are some difference from a linux dom0. This is available in b101 @ http://www.opensolaris.org/os/downloads/sol_ex_dvd_1/ This allows you to create and manage vmdk and vdi (Virtual Box) disk files. By default, virt-install will now use a vmdk vdisk when
