questions
Has anyone made an attempt to create an embedded version yet? Is there a plan to have embedded examples as part of the open source? If I want to create four independent decode streams, is there any decode work which can be shared, or is it going to be four times the work? How many MIPS does it take to decode a single stream? --tnx --tom --- >8 ---- List archives:

Quality of vp3.2 codec?
How good is the video compression in vp3.2? For example, how does it compare (bit rate & quality) to mpeg1, mpeg2, Divx, real Video 8+, Windows Media, etc. etc. It being open source is nice and all, but if it can't be reasonably competitive then there isn't much point to it. I just haven't seen anything that compares vp32 to anything else. (Although to be honest, I haven't

Vorbis streams on Windows Media Player
I was under the impression that Tobias's Direct Show filters would allow Windows Media player to play Ogg Vorbis streams, but after testing it here, apparently it doesn't. Does anyone know if there is anyway of making WMP play vorbis streams? The company I'm involved with who will be creating thousands of internet stations will most likely need WMP to play the streams, since it is

Rebuild of kernel 2.6.9-67.0.20.EL failure
Hello list. I'm trying to rebuild the 2.6.9.67.0.20.EL kernel, but it fails even without modifications. How did I try it? Created a (non-root) build environment (not a mock ) Installed the kernel.scr.rpm and did a rpmbuild -ba --target=`uname -m` kernel-2.6.spec 2> prep-err.log | tee prep-out.log The build failed at the end: Processing files: kernel-xenU-devel-2.6.9-67.0.20.EL Checking
