[Bridge] Interface or Linux crashes when put in bridge mode
Hi all, let me see if I can explain my problem in an explicable way. I have written a WLAN driver which runs on a dedicated box (e.g. not a PCMCIA card). The box is plugged into a client that wants WLAN connectivity via Ethernet. E.g.:

UTStarcom F1000 - WLAN connection unreliable
...rnet (not LAN), and registration works.
Calling and being called also, with transfer and all bells and whistles.
After a few minutes up to 5 hours (varies widely), the display tells me
that an Accesspoint is not available (although it is, with the other
phone or a laptop). It will only re-find the WLAN after either powering
down the phone, or going into the WLAN settings menu, down to any
setting, OK'ing that and "activating" that WLAN setting.
I used any of the profiles 1 to 4 in the meantime, all the same results.
I tried changing from WPA to WEP-128 to unencrypted WLAN, IP via D...

Recommended WLAN-Adapter for CentOS 5
I intend to realize the connection to the Internet by WLAN (at the presen time
DSL cable modem).
The WLAN DSL-Router should not be the problem. But which wlan-
adapter (internally (PCI), USB... whatever) can be recommended for a
work "out of is the box" with cent OS 5?
Thx

HW-Recommendation: cell/mobile phone, capable of WLAN and SIP ??
Hello,
is anyone on the list using a normal cell/mobile phone which is able to
act as a SIP client over WLAN?
Or has anyone heard of a SIP client for cell/mobile phones running
windows mobile 6.x?
The phone should use SIP, when the asterisk server is reachable and
should automatically switch to a German telco if it is not reachable.
Thanks for any hints,
Stefan

[Bridge] Flushing MAC-tables(?)
Dear list-members!
I am using OpenWRT (www.openwrt.org) on two accesspoints. Within
OpenWRT, the wireless interface and the ethernet interface are bridged
to one interface (br0).
Those two accesspoints are standing quite far from one another. Their
WLAN-cells do not cross each other, meaning I have an area in between
the two accesspoints, where there is no accesspoint of the two
accessible: a dead spot.
Now I use two WLAN-telephones (Cisco 7920). I start calling one of the
phones inside the same radio cell and I answer this call. Now I start
movi...

Broadcom Wifi Problem

was not working in my new CentOS 6 partition, and
remembering that there was a driver problem with the
old Fedora partition it replaced, I followed instructions

modifying for that fact that I use wlan0 rather than eth1.
The wifi is now dead-in-the-water. The wlan light now
remains red, and neither ifconfig nor iwconfig show any

[Bridge] Wireless bridge - revisited
...ago (July 1st), you may remember me asking about using a
Linksys WET11 (ethernet to wireless bridge) with bridge-utils.
Mark Mathews was kind enough to respond and described a situation he
called "b/mcast echo". From his reply:
"
Because of the games that have to be played to build WLAN station bridge
devices, some have a problem with what I call 'b/mcast echo'. Basically,
what happens is this:
1) the WLAN bridge (call it WB) device picks up a broadcast frame (like
the arp request from a2:a9) from it's ethernet interface,
2) WB forwards the the bcast frame...

Dropping Connections
Hi!
We have an installation with WLAN SIP phones only. Sometimes we have
connection drops. What is the best way to debug if we have problems
with the WLAN or the SIP devices or the uplink to the IAX Provider.

wlan and macvtap?
...Was I wrong in expecting this to be done automatically? Since my
macvtap interface requires this to work "properly"?
After having set the corporate lan network interface, in to
promiscuous mode my virtual machine received an IP address and all was
well.
However this did not work for my wlan interface after having done the same.
It too was set in to promiscuous mode but the virtual machine is not
receiving an ip address from the DHCP server, which is the access
point.
I changed the network settings on the virtual machine from DHCP to
manual but that too did not work: no network communi...

WLAN support
Hi folks!
First post here, so please don't bother if it's not the right place
to post those kind of questions.
I'm currently running a 4.7-release (upgrade to 4.8 planned but not
yet started) on my production box.
As I would like to setup a small WLAN (major use for my notebook,
other clients are possible) I need to know which cards are really
supported. The handbook is IMHO not clear about that (the chipsets
are documented but how do I know which card is using what chipset
as the manufacturers doesn't really name the chipset?).
I'v...
