keeping mapped drives with nt wkst.
I am having an interesting time making a couple of windows NT 4.0 workstations keep their mapped network drive mounts to a SAMBA server running release 1.9.13. Currently I have plenty of the company's Win 3.11 machines re-connecting to network drives just fine with other Win 3.11 p.c.'s and the samba-server. I have applied the M.S. service pack #3 for the Win NT workstations and made

NT Wkst auto printer driver installation
Hello all, Please forgive me if this is a FAQ, but I haven't seen it explicitly in any of the docs (although I find the Samba documentation EXTREMELY confusing and complex, so I may have missed it). Essentially, I have been able to follow the instructions in 'PRINTER_DRIVER.txt', and Win9x clients can install printer drivers for Samba shared printers instantly and easily. However

Help ! Logon script doesn't work on XP
Hi, I have very strange problem: I had created logon script (bat file dynamically generated by root peexec) and tested it successfully on Win98 workstation. Now I'm testing it on XP wkst., but the same (created by the same method) script is during logon not executed. What is absolutely mysterious for me ? The script is really read by workstation durin logon - I saw it in network traffic (caught by tcpdump and displayed by ethereal). Here is copy of current script (of course - every...

Again Asterisk and VMWare - it works now!
...ith 128 MB allocated for the Linux virtual machine. I have connected this PBX with another one using IAX/GSM. I can call the other part and the sound is great, without any interruption. The phone used is a Cisco7960 with G.711, so still a codec conversion is in place (GSM/G.711) and Asterisk/VMWare Wkst performs very well. The problem is only when I try to call local services, like echo test or Digium Demo. Then, the sound of the informative message for the Digium Demo is choppy, but the sound from the Digium server (after connection) is very good. So.. the problem is only to play local files wh...

I have a Samba 2.2.4 (Slack 8.1) configured as a PDC dor NT&9x machines. I have tried using User Manager for Domains (I've run it on a Windows NT Workstation) in order to set user permisions for different workstations (such as log on to the WKST, acces the WKST from network, change sistem time, etc) but the I get the message "The parameter is incorrect" whenever I touch the "User rights" button in order to set user rights. Is this possible with Samba(the official docuentation does not say whethere it can do so or not)...

smbclient -> winpop -> win2000
...cho "hell0" |smbclient -M win2000 -I 192.168.0.3 the problem ist that the message appears about 10 seconds later, a little to late for a call )-: . The reason for that is the behaviour of smbclient together with win2000. When i call smbclient like mentioned above it connetcs to the win2k wkst saying "type your message now, ending with Control-D" waiting for about 5 seconds before sending it with a "sending XX bytes" to the win2000 mashine. An echo "hello ^D" | smbclient does not help. Smbclient includes the ^D into its message (as a kind of box) which is...

full-fledge PDF editor for Linux
Hi all, Does anybody know of an editor that can do on Linux what Acrobat / Acrobat Pro can do on Mac/Windows? I have tried to use the PDF Import extension to the Open Office which appears barely functional - at least it is so slow as to be almost impractical. I have also tried pdfedit under Linux which seems to work fine but seems to have rather limited functionality. For instance, the capability
