Pereserving the callerid value when presentation set to witheld over sip
We are a telco so when we receive calls via ISDN and the number is
witheld we see the correct presentation value but also still see the
actual callers number in the callerid(num) variable.
I am trying to forward some of these calls over to one of our other
boxes via SIP but I have found that if the number is withend then the
sip packet contains :-

Default caller ID
Hi,
I've been looking at the problem of the default caller ID. When a call
comes in with no CID or witheld it's always set to 'asterisk' which is
what the phone displays. I've been looking for an option to change that.
The only place I can find is DEFAULT_CALLERID in chan_sip.c. This is
set by the 'callerid' option in the sip.conf.
However the documentation states that this...

...are few things about this whole situation that aren't clear to me:
1. With what organization were these speaker agreements made?
2. Did the speakers from Apple sign the same agreements?
3. If the agreements were made with an organization other than Apple, on
what basis are the materials being witheld?
3a. That is, do the Dev Meeting organizers, or whichever organization it
was that issued the agreements, already have legal permission to release
them?
3b. What would be the consequences of releasing the materials without
Apple's approval?
4. If the agreements were made with Apple, why?
4a. I...

MIPS for encoding and 3 MIPS for decoding. Supposedly, RAM was the
main limitation, requiring 5.4 KB for encoder and 3.2 KB for decoder.
They state that full-duplex support is now possible and requires 6.8
KB of RAM, so it looks like it can be done. Unfortunately they witheld
the source code. Anybody interested in making ~10$ decent sounding
hardware codec?

New sounds also now in CVS
The soundfiles I submitted earlier today have been cleaned up, and
added to the Digium CVS server in a more formal manner. Also, some
of the really bad formatting in my .txt description file has been
rectified. All of the sounds on my website are now on the Digium
site, and I will be submitting future changes via patches to Digium
for additional sounds.
Ideas welcome for more text; I may

Hang up detection with TDM400P and Telewest/Virgin Media line
Folks,
I've seen a few reports that people have had problems with hang up
detection on UK cable phone lines. I have a TDM400P with two FXO ports,
one connected to my BT line and the other connected to my
Telewest/Virgin Media cable line. If I ring the BT line and then clear
down, Asterisk detects this and acts accordingly. If I ring the
Telewest line, the clear down is not detected, hence
