Anyone get Acrobat Pro 8 to install?
Hi All, Wine 1.4 I am the original poster of http://bugs.winehq.org/show_bug.cgi?id=18231. I have my command line error posted over there at: http://bugs.winehq.org/attachment.cgi?id=39329 Whenever I try to install Acrobat Professional 8, I get setup interrupted. I have the spooler patch in the bug resort set the manual start. But, still no joy. Anyone have any words of wisdom? Many

openssl with FIPS140-2 ??
I see that CentOS does not provide the FIPS140-2 package for openSSL. I don't know if RH provides it or not. Can someone advise me on the best way to get it onto a CentOS or RHEL system, without breaking things? I'd also appreciate ANY related wisdom that's available, having pretty much NO wisdom of my own. thanks! Fred -- ---- Fred Smith -- fredex at fcshome.stoneham.ma.us

HABTM vs. using has_many :through
All, I''ve heard recently about has_many :through as a necessary alternative to HABTM (when the join table has it''s own id column, say, in a legacy schema). However, is the prevailing Rails wisdom now that one should use has_many :through in _all_ cases? If so, why? Thanks, Wes -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Call Recording using MixMonitor - close, but would like some more words of wisdom.
Dan et al; This looks like a perfect solution. However, I have one issue. If I initiate the macro manually (put it in the proper context/dialplan) it works. I see the *.wav file being created and growing in the /var/spool/asterisk/monitor directory. If I try to implement it adding the MixMonApp => *1,self/both,Macro,mixmon to the [applicationmap] in features.conf, I cannot get it to

Config file semantics.
Personally, I find that indenting config files by 3 spaces has a lot of advantages to indenting them by 4 spaces although conventional wisdom might suggest otherwise. Who's with me on this?

The Wisdom of the Crowd and Wine Critic Ratings
I think one of the more interesting phenomena in the world of wine that has arisen in the past five years is the emergence of a group known as the American Association of Wine Economists. I must admit, when I first saw the announcement of their existence, I assumed it was just some economists having a good time and looking for an excuse to drink some more wine.http://chloehandbagsspring2011.com

How to set up help browser?
Does anyone have any words of wisdom for setting up the standard Windows help browser? I have an app with extensive on-line help, but the help browser only comes up with the one intro page. The various tabs are there, but they don't do anything.... --Yan

The wisdom - or otherwise - of replacing outright rather than merely appending to the example smb.conf file shipped with SAMBA during new server commissioning?
I have a general question regarding smb.conf and I was hoping that some of the rather more knowledgeable and experienced people here could please comment please? I am currently setting my various SAMBA systems up via some shell-scripts. Within these scripts, I remove the stock smb.conf shipped with Samba and replace this with an empty smb.conf file to which I add my own configuration options

Upgrade Novell 4.11 to Samba 3.0.7 wisdom needed
Has anybody done such a thing as this? I'm looking to make this transition as smooth as possible. I have the new fileserver up and running, and I'm using rsync to keep the Novell data current on the Samba server. Any words of advice on transferring the users and groups and permissions over to the new server in the least painful way possible? I have some idea that Novell uses LDAP

Modify but not create permissions
I am still trying to figure out why samba wont let me create in subdirectories I've tripple checked everything and a few things leapt out at me. *) I can modify a file inside a directory that I cannot create a file in. I did not know it was possible under linux to do that. *) If I set all perms on 777 I can create. But neither 775 or 755 will allow it. *) When I go into a mount

Lattice: merged strips?
Hi all, By default a call to xyplot from the Lattice package when using 2 factors [eg xyplot( dv~iv | XY * AB ) ] yields the following shingle structure: |_A_|_A_|_B_|_B_| |_X_|_Y_|_X_|_Y_| However, I'm wondering if it is possible to merge the upper shingle within levels of that factor, as in: |___A___|___B___| |_X_|_Y_|_X_|_Y_| Mike -- Mike Lawrence Graduate Student, Department of

echo cancellation: the never-ending quest for truth
Asterisk apparently has five echo cancellation algorithms: STEVE, STEVE2, MARK, MARK2 and MARK3. The current default appears to be MARK2. My question is, has anyone had any experience with any of the others (other than MARK2), and is there some conventional wisdom as to when to use one over another? Calculation of ratio distribution properties
Hi all, Looking to calculate the expected mean and variance of a ratio distribution where the source distributions are gaussian with known parameters and sample values are correlated. I see (from wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ Ratio_distribution#Gaussian_ratio_distribution) that this calculation is quite involved, so I'm hoping that someone has already coded a function to

To jitter buffer or not to jitter buffer?
Greetings list, Some time ago (probably about a year ago now) we disabled IAX jitter buffering on all our boxes because it was causing issues in a mixed 1.0 and 1.2 environment. One thing I've noticed over the last few months as more and more clients have moved from the 512k/1mb/2mb ADSL connections they were using onto "up to 8mb" connections is that whilst overall throughput is a
