question about glm vs. loglin()
...with S = H, E=H, P=No in a sample that has a total of 4991 observations? In other words, how did it arrive at the number 270.01843 in the upper left hand corner of $fit?
I see that loglin() computes exactly the same predictions (fitted values) as
glm( counts ~ S + E +P + S:E + S:P + E:P, data=wisconsin, family=poisson) see below) but it gives different values of the estimates for parameters. So I figure the formula it uses to compute
the fitted values is not the same as what is used in Poisson
regression.
If there is a better way to fit this type of model and provide easy to understand and i...

oplocks and samba 2.2.7
About two months ago our sysadmin upgraded to samba 2.2.7 and we have not
had any oplock problems since.
A heartfelt thanks from the University of Wisconsin in Madison to the Samba
team for all their hard work.
If our hundreds of users understood what was going on behind the scenes,
they'd be thanking you too.

?Corrupt Recommended packages source
...mmended.tgz multiple times from the main CRAN site. The
sources have arrived corrupted each time (from multiple computers BTW). If
I download the same file from the UCLA or University of Bristol mirror, I
also get corrupt archive files. On the other hand, if I download from the
University of Wisconsin mirror, the file arrives uncorrupted. I've
verified this at each site multiple times using computers attached to T1
lines, to DSL lines, and to cable modem lines.
I don't know much about mirroring, but is it possible that some mirror
sites are storing (possibly) corrupted archive files...

[LLVMdev] Automating Analysis Pass at linktime question [liblto] [safecode]
Hello all,
I'm a research assistant at the University of Wisconsin and we're trying to
come up with a general way to run our whole program analysis over programs
that may use different methods to perform the build. I saw some discussion
that liblto could be used for this (and safecode successfully did it) for
llvm 2.6 - 3.0, but that doesn't seem to be wo...

Samba NTFS permissions
...way to map them?
Creating a share for a user is easy but can you set different file
permissions in that share with separate ntfs permissions to give different
users permission to different areas of the share? This is on an Active
Directory network. Thank you.
PS: We are trying to save the state of Wisconsin some money by replacing our
Win 2000 file servers with samba servers!

there something else that I'm missing?
