I'm trying to get Samba up and running and having a terrible time. It says that I should be able to run nmap and see that 137 and 139 are open - which they are not. I have not added any restrictions in smb.conf, do not have a firewall running and I have increased the log level to 5 to see all of the messages. It says that it is talking on 137 but it kind of looks like it's not talking

...wires on the RJ11 cable had a voltage across them and it was the yellow and green (3 & 4?). From what someone posted the other day it's supposed to be Bumble Bee and Christmas Tree. I did have to get a technician out to fix my line when it was first installed because it was dead. Maybe he wired it up incorrectly or maybe they just do it different here in Ireland. I dont' remember if this is a desktop/deskside machine, or a laptop... if it's a laptop, and if the power cord is a polarized 3-prong plug, I don't think there's much to be done about it UNLESS the outlet you're using is wired wrong, or there's a more widespread grounding/wiring issue in your building. if it's a desktop, I'll assume it's already a 3-prong polarized plug (unless someone has used a 2-3 prong adaptor, or the building is mis-wired. I recently installed CentOS 5.2 64-bit on a partition on a MacBook Pro 17 inch. It installed just fine, but wired Ethernet is not available. lspci shows it as nVidia...unknown. Is it possible to get wired Ethernet running on this laptop under CentOS without having to create a virtual machine installation of CentOS? If so, what is the magic? Thanks. Scott
