...the Samba server at our head office fine. I have also setup the WINS setting on my PC (W2K Pro box) to point to the IP address of my Samba server. When I do a nmblookup -R -U <IP address of WINS server> <name of my PC> on my Samba server I get this reponse; querying pc1 on 10.1.1.251 wins_srv_died(): Could not mark WINS server 10.1.1.251 down. Windows XP SP2 doesn't login to SAMBA domain
Hello, We have a samba server for our computer lab. Currently all the machines are either windows 98 or windows 2000. The 98 machines are assigned to the 'INTRANET' workgroup, while the windows 2000 machines are part of the 'INTRANET' domain. We have no problems with this setup. I'm now trying to deploy Windows XP (sp2) computers to this lab. I'm constantly getting

WINS querying (Advanced)
Hi all... I need to make a few queries to WINS, but am unsure how to do so. 'nmblookup' will allow me to enter an IP address and get information about the machine name, domain, and username. I want to do the opposite...I would like to have a tool that will take a username and return the IP address. I know this information is stored in WINS somehow, and I am capable of writing some Perl
