Hi I dug comp.emulator.ms-windows.wine archive, but didn't found what i need. Is there _any_ way of initialisation wine-dows, including wininit.ini processing? '_any_ way' means the program, doing it, of course :) regards -- ojciec

I read the wine apps notes about Internet Explorer and searched through the mailing list. While installing MS Office 2000, It asked to reboot. I did less /c/windows/WinInit.ini. It says: [Rename] NUL=C:\WINDOWS\ttfCache The note in the IE apps section said to either remove this file or, better yet, do what it says. I don't understand what this is saying. what do you do when you run a setp program and it gives you the message "A previous installation has not completed. Please restart Windows to finish the installation."? This is left over from my installing Office 2000, which doesn't work anyway (under 20020605) and i'm attempting to installing Internet Explorer 5. any ideas?

I have never used strace before and the output is overwhelming. I am trying to install ie5 to test webpages and their apperance. Unfortuantely i am getting this annoying dialog error: "A previous program installation was never completed. You need to restart your computer to complete that installation before running Internet Explorer Setup. Setup will now close." What in the heck is this?? Restart what computer? Heck no! Running Wine 1.0.1 in Ubuntu 9.10, trying to install FileMaker Pro 9 from CD. (Install from this CD works fine on Windows machine.) 'Setup cannot find necessary files' message appears when launching setup.exe with Wine. WINEDEBUG=+loaddll on setup.exe gives the output below; looks like all needed .dlls are there. Same problem reported on Ubuntu forums earlier in 2009 by another user:
