Setting home path to a dir within a users Linux home dir
Is there a trick to append an additional directory level onto the defauly behavior of a [homes] share looking in /etc/passwd to find the users Linux home dir? It would offer a bit of protection if Windows clients ended up in say the WinHome directory within their Linux home directory when logging in from Windows so they are not tempted to tamper with their desktop settings files for Linux from Windows. Maybe there is a bit of magic someone knows, a variable to include or something? -- Michael Lueck Lueck Data Systems Remove the...

Using Samba to Mount User Shares as Linux Home Dirs?
...ser directories. If anybody knows of a better way of doing this, I would love to hear it. So now I'm looking for a way to: 1) Create a directory on the linux box if one doesn't exist already (SOLVED: using pam_mkhomedir) 2) Mount the user's windows directory in a subdir called "winhome" 3) Make symbolic links to key directories ("My Documents") in the linux home dir #2 is the stumper here. Is there any way, short of writing my own PAM, to have the user's windows directory automatically mounted to "winhome" when they log in? Mount complains that it...

Help configuring Samba-3 to share $HOME directories
I'm looking for help configuring Samba-3 to allow me to share out home directories from a UNIX host to Windows XP clients so that my Windows domain users can read and write to their home directories on the UNIX host. I've attempted to follow the examples in "Samba-3 by Example" to no success. I've also followed the tutorial: http://bob.rasey.net/archives/000137.html, which

Access denied
Hello, Samba 1.9.16p11 on Sun OS 5.6 For a NT4 Server SP4, I can not access to the samba server. When I look at the log.MachineName file, I see the error "password server not avalaible". I must say that it is working fine with an NT4 SP4 server on the same domain with the same user account. I have change the registry to authorize non-encrypted password. ...... Thanks. --
