/etc/printcap for samba-shared printer...
Morning...
Just spent this evening getting printing setup off my FreeBSD
machine (oh, how I love Solaris at these times *groan*)...got it now so
that I can print directly from Netscape, color and graphics and all.
The printer is an HP 560c.
Now, I want to be able to print from my Windoze95 machine, and
have samba setup for that, as well as file sharing. If I setup my Windoze
machine such that my printer is \\thelab\deskjet, which is the same
printer (in /etc/printcap) that I use for Netscape under Unix, the test
page gets sent across, but it isn't correct (graphic is all skewed)...

Browse List Question - please help!
...is acting
as the Local Master Browser for its [different] subnet. It knows about the WINS
server.
Problem:
By setting my debug level to 3 I can watch samba get info for the workgroup - it
happily collects info and also happily syncs with other Local Master Browsers on
different subnets. From my Windoze95 I can do a NET VIEW /WORKGROUP:ITS and I
can see the browse list start to grow as the syncs occur.
But, if I go to my NT workstation (MSCRAMER-LAPTOP, with addr 172.16.3.136) *IT
IS UNABLE TO GET THE BROWSE LIST*. The workgroup name is ITS. This NT
workstation is on the same subnet as the second...

More cross subnet browsing et al
...n act as a DNS server, unless I dns proxy=off, and
regardless of the WINS support flag ????
There has been other comments in the same vein (well same flavour)
in the list also.
Another Problem. I have a number of LANS connected into our WAN. These
LANs are running IRIX 6.x - Samba 1.9.17p4 and Windoze95 (no NT around).
We define separate workgroups per LAN, encompassing all of the machines
at that site (LAN).
Reading the docs. I
1. Defined a WAN wide WINS server.
2. At each site (LAN), I set up Domain master and master browser, for
the separate workgroups. Each of these domain masters

Windows98 fails with MDB and DBF files on Samba share
A big hello to the list!
I've installed since two years and since version 1.9.17 a Samba Server on a
Linux Box running Slakware 3.0 with kernel patched up to 2.0.34. This box runs
on the same network as a Netware 4.01 server and a NT server. All the clients
are Windoze95 and, unfortunately, now there are some Windoze98 systems as
well.
I'm saying unfortunately because up to now everything has worked very well
and I can say since 1.9.18 also in a very fast and reliable way.
But now we are having many problems that are related to the installation of two
new Wi...

Samba over leased line
We have two Class C nets (192.168.1.0/24) and 192.168.2.0/24). These nets
are connected through a pair of router (BinTec) via ISDN.
The router have a short hold mode, i.e. cancels the line if no packets are
to be received or transmitted.
Recently we installed one Samba Server in a subnet. In the other subnet are
several clients, which print to the samba-server (via the ISDN link).
We have not much
