TRD like tool for linux?
...und that one of my VM hosts seems to have been compromised in some way; I've shut it down, isolated it, found a few odd things like gibberish comments and odd hostnames that I don't recognise pointed back to 127.0.0.1 in /etc/hosts. I tried TRD and it seems mildly useful, but has more of a windowsy feel for what it wants to be able to fix. does anyone know of something with more linux rootkit detection as a focus? I could just rebuild this machine, but I'd like to know for sure what all/how bad this was broken so I can avoid it for next time. thanks.

Help for R on Windows for non-Win-enabled!
...ng R on Windows, while I am not (Linux only). Things have reached the stage where saving graphics plots as Windows metafiles is looming. I've been told that the result of "?device" in Windows is as follows (which is different from what I get on Linux, which does not mention anything Windowsy): Description The following graphics devices are currently available: windows The graphics driver for Windows (on screen, to printer and to Windows metafile). postscript Writes PostScript graphics commands to a file [... etc.] So, presumably, the code to save a plot to a WMF could...

[LLVMdev] Fwd: RFC: "Building with MinGW on Windows" (DOC, NEW)
Now I can't make CMake use "MSYS Makefiles". I get an error about GNU v4.7.0 being broken as it can't build a simple test program. Using "MinGW Makefiles", everything works out of the box. And I am trying to give the user the most Windowsy experience (to avoid Cygwin, GnuWin32, and MSYS, if I can). So I think I'll stick to my current angle - which is to let the user install only MinGW, CMake, and Python, and then leave out any mention of MSYS (until the Testing on Windows document). P.S. There is one more compiler for Windows:...

Winbindd on a pdc??
...following command: root# net rpc join -S MASSIVE -U root%not24get " I'm not sure I understand this part and could be helped if someone did a sanity check on my reasoning below. As far as I understood, there are two ways to resolve a windows sid to a Unix uid: 1. if your users are in a Windowsy database, like Active Directory, or if we're speaking about Samba member servers, your unix users do not exist in the local passwd database. In these cases, you can use winbind to authenticate users and to get (via nsswitch?) a unix user id that matches your windows user (and it saves those map...

[LLVMdev] Fwd: RFC: "Building with MinGW on Windows" (DOC, NEW)
Mikael, Thanks for working on. My gross comments... - Canonical URL of LLVM project is; http://llvm.org/ , not www.llvm.org. - "test-suite and cygwin" could be split out. It would be special thing. - Memory/storage requirements would be moved to "A.B Debugging". Less memory would be enough without debug build. - Python (x64 binary) is available, too. I am using. Python
