Problems copying some files from windows to linux

Rsync from windows to unix
...x. I've followed the directions on : http://optics.ph.unimelb.edu.au/help/rsync/rsync_pc1.html I can see ssh running on the windows machine, because I tested it using telnet localhost 22 and I can see the result "SSH-2.0-OpenSSH_3.4p1". But when I try "$ rsync -avz -e ssh user@windowsserver::/rsync/* ." from the Linux machine I'm getting the error message "ERROR: The remote path must start with a module name" Even when I try "$ rsync -avz -e ssh user@windowsserver:/rsync/* ." I'm getting the error $ rsync -avz -e ssh speram@172.20.70.33:/testrsync/*...

Lies wide open ...!
Being as a Windows geek tho, I consider Linux as a more powerful server operating system than Windows. When I saw OS comparison at http://www.microsoft.com/windowsserver/compare/linux/server-security.mspx I was shocked! Showed it to a friend and he felt like being brainwashed :D lol. What do you fellows think about this? Thanks. -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL: <http://lists.centos.org/pipermail/centos/attachments/...

Local Administrators (group) and delegation in AD
Hi all! We have got many delegations in our AD. To add a certain administrator group to the local Administrators group you can use GPO for Windowsservers. As Samba does not understand GPO I have initially used the "username map" feature to add a domain account to become root. After the appropriate group is added via Computer Management MMC by the delegated administrator, the line "username map" is commented and Samba is rest...

Xen GPL PV Drivers, Windows 2003 unplanned shutdown
Hi, I''ve recently started using the GPL PV Drivers (0.9.10) for a pair of test machines, one XP and one 2003. XP works beautifully: Thank you for the development efforts. 2003 works almost as well, with one exception. When I either xm reboot or xm shutdown and subsequently restart the virtual machine, at first login I get this dialogue: The system has restarted after an unplanned

rsync not removing files that are out of date
I'm running on Red Hat Enterprise 3 machine with ~700Gb of Storage backing up to a similar machine using rsync backups running 6 times a day on various directories in /home/. The inital rsync copied roughly 150gb. Everything appears to be backing up correctly so no loss of data which is good :) The problem is that he backup server is not removing data that has been removed from the primary

"net ads join" Kerberos credentials only after "kinit"?
...ds join". This will use your kerberos credentials from step #1 and add the samba server to your ADS domain without the need to specify a username or a password. 3.) Do a "klist" and you will see three different tickets in your kerberos credentials cache. 4.) Do a "smbclient -k \\windowsserver\share" and it should connect you without enterning username and password. At this point I ask you guys, whether this is a bug or a feature: 1.)If it is a feature the samba documentation needs to be changed in order to require valid Administrator kerberos credentials _BEFORE_ doing a "ne...

rsync Windows UNC
Hello, I try to backup files from a NAS to our backup-server using rsync. The NAS itself is not able to run rsync. Therefore I installed rsyncd (cwrsync 2.1.1) on a windowsserver which has access to the NAS. I configured the rsyncd like this: [nspPR53_so2] path = /172.21.87.9/nspPR53_so/material/doc read only = true transfer logging = yes When connecting with the client I get the error message: rsync rsync://172.21.87.14/nspPR53_so2 @ERROR: chdir failed rsync error: err...

roaming profile does not work for "Domain Admins"
I am facing an issue which I cannot explain myself. The roaming profiles don't work for users that are members of the group "Domain Admins". The [profiles] share on the member server was configured exactly as explained on the wiki for roaming profiles. It works like a charm for all domain users, *BUT*: if a user is member of the group "Domain Admins" it *doesn't* :-(
