Migrate samba3.5 classic domain to Windows2008R2
I have a Samba 3.5.20 domain controller that provides logins and profiles for our Windows XP computer labs on campus. In earlier testing, we encountered performance issues with Windows 7 logins. Although that has now been resolved, management is discourged from continuing to use Samba as a domain controller. I have now been tasked with migrating our classic academic domain to Windows 2008R2

wbinfo -i returns the same id for all users, authentication doesn't seem to go through winbind at all
I've got a Debian/Jessie Samba 4.2.14 running as an AD member. ADC is a Windows2008R2 server. Join worked without problem. # net ads testjoin Join is OK wbinfo -u and wbinfo -g work perfectly and provides a list of users and groups from the AD as expected. wbinfo -i <user> works too: # wbinfo -i TESTAD\\testuser TESTAD\testuser:*:4294967295:4294967295:testuser:/home/TESTAD/...

printer "Advanced tab" grayed
Hello, I would like to upload windows printer driver to my Samba through the printer "Advanced tab" as described in that doc http://www.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-Guide/happy.html#id2582657 but this tab is totally grayed. I can imagine it's a permission issue but I'm not sure at all. Any idea, Frederic

Samba 4 as Kerberos server for NFSv4
Hello Folks, I'm trying to configure AD (mixed Samba4 and Windows2008R2 DC's) for kerberized NFS (NFSv4). Our server is CentOS 6.4 (with Samba 4.1.0)f and our clients are Fedora 19. Console sessions work fine and the user's home directory mounts fine with AutoFS. But sessions initiated with GDM, KDM, or even SSHD fail to mount the user's home directory...

Minimum python 2.7 (not on RHEL6) for Samba 4.7 AD DC?
G'Day, I've been looking at our minimum python version for the AD DC. We have some patches currently being proposed to help us become compatible with the modern Python3, and one aspect (PyCapsule) would be easier to do if we restricted Samba to requiring Python 2.7 as a minimum. The wrinkle comes from our good friends at Red Hat, which found itself caught with Python 2.6 on RHEL6.
