multiple winbind instances
...ody could help me. I try to authenticate users using FreeRadius in few AD forests. The problem is as follows - it is possible to have multiple winbind instances, each binded to a different AD domain and each being interacted by a different instance of ntlm_auth? Or maybe it is possible to bind one winbinnd to more than one domain? I've managed so far to run multiple instances of winbind (each with a different configuration), but because of pipe in /tmp/ ntlm_auth interacts only with the most recent one. Any suggestions, comments and idea will be highly appreciated. Best regards Lukasz Fiszer

winbind cache time
...rst we changed the passwords to see if it made a difference, and it appeared not to. Until I disables winbindd's cache with the -n switch. Now changes to the accounts directly affected squid, which is what should happen. Problem solved. I need to tell the operations guys the maximum time that winbinnd keeps cached results. The man page just says that the parameter exists with no indication about the default value, And I also came up with this in a google search: http://lists.samba.org/archive/samba-technical/2003-February/027095.html Which confused me a bit. Is the argument to "winbind...

winbind, ntlm_auth and multiple AD domains
...y with one AD, but situation with multiple AD seems to be very troublesome. The question is - it is possible to have multiple winbind instances, each binded to a different AD domain and each being interacted (via FreeRadius) by a different instance of ntlm_auth? Or maybe it is possible to bind one winbinnd to more than one domain? I've managed so far to run multiple instances of winbind (each with a different configuration), but because of pipe in /tmp/ ntlm_auth interacts only with the most recent one. We have already considered other solutions (trust between domains, running multiple configur...

Member server - domain shows as "Unix User" on ACLs
...bindd on the member server, winbindd running as 'netlogon proxy only' on the member server and full winbindd with it creating idmap entries in ldap. The Win2003 server works fine without the idmap entries in ldap so I'm assuming samba should be able to work without idmap entries and winbinnd running as 'netlogon proxy only' on the member server. wbinfo -t (-u & -g) all work correctly displaying the domain users and groups on the member server. 'Samba-3 by Example' in the 'Adding Domain Member Servers and Clients' chapter makes it sound like you don't...

Hello! I set debug level 10 to samba 2.2.0 and now see in log: [2001/05/10 08:31:48, 10] smbd/uid.c:gid_to_sid(409) gid_to_sid: winbind lookup for gid 5284 failed - trying local. How can I say to samba to not try use winbind? -- Wire connection and Windows reinstallation senior engineer Dmitry Melekhov http://www.belkam.com/~dm 2:5050/11.23@fidonet
